Okay, let me try and explain......it has taken me six months to even realise what "this" was.......

I am so much in my head most of the time, that when I am required to interact, I momentarily get frightened, like I am in an elevator that drops suddenly.

It is like, "Oh, here I am.......I exist".

It passes quite quickly, but it is at these times that I realise how far from "humanity" I go...... :?:

Cofused? Yep, me too.

Yes, actually. I'm in my head so much sometimes I'm surprised when people react to me. "Oh you can see me? Goodness."

I thought me and my brother were the only ones who experienced this odd feeling. Good thing we're not alone. :)

I've felt that way quite a bit. Sometimes to the point where nothing or no one seems familiar at that time ...it is very difficult to explain. I've heard someone refer to it as "feeling disconnected".

Its kinda like reading a book while someone is talking or the television is on and suddenly you look up, and you missed what happened. like you were completely gone momentarily.

Yeah, it happens to me. Way too much.

Something similar for me is the feeling of 'now'. Once you think of 'now', it's not 'now' anymore and it's already passed. Like if you're walking somewhere and you're tired, it may seem like its taking ages but once you've arrived, it's like, you're now there.

it's hard to explain i guess :/

Yea I seem to frighten people a bit when that happens and I suddenly look at them. I mean what OP said. It happens all the time.

I also experience that, from time to time.

Yeah I get this, especially if someone notices something about me that I think is well hidden... it means they are more aware of my existance than I initially believed!

I remember stopping and just intensley staring at everything thinking "Is this really here?" I would flap my fingers and hands in frount of my face and wondered if they really existed as well. I would swish my arm back and forth and wonder if I was really doing so or if it was just my imagination and then question relaity and existance. I had extremely VIVD dreams as a todler and remember being able to astral project unless that was a dream too but I don't know I'm aware of somethings that most people have no idea even exists. It's very possible I was astral projecting for real.

Look up dissasociaton on google or depersonalization. It would explain this feeling. I've experienced this before and I think lack of sleep can be a contributing factor. It's kind of funny, the first time I saw the word "aspie" was when I was reading an article on depersonalization. I didn't even know what AS was at the time.
