...that keeps noise out.

I've heard of these but I'm not sure which works best. I have trouble typing or doing anything that requires mental work while someone is talking to me or when the TV is on. My dad especially loves to annoy the hell out of me while I'm typing because he gets a kick out of how I react.

So I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and if there's a way to alleviate it or at least keep the noise at bay whilst I'm in a room full of noise. Normally I'd go to another location but being how I live in a trailer that's almost the size of a van, there's no way of getting out of that.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Bose noise-canceling headphones will do the job, but they won't be cheap.

Fry's Electronics has a good selection of them priced between $10 and $80. I got my Panasonic buds for around $20, and I can't hear a thing with them on. Not even my mom sneaking up behind me while I'm listening to Pandora.

Do you want music, or silence? Because plain old earplugs work great for silence.

JVC Marshmallow Earbuds work well for me.

Search for them on amazon. com, they are about $18. I find them very comfortable, if worn correctly, which some people have trouble doing.

I've had other kinds, much more expensive kinds of in-ear phones and they were painful and irritating.

If you wish to know where to do some research to see what suits you best, I recommend browsing the forums of headfi. org , pretty much full of headphone and earphone experts. Otherwise I recommend just buying the JVC Marshmallows.

I have a pair of red plastic headphones from the dollar store..(the package calls them ear muffs)
They reduce noise just enough that I can hear what people say when they talk to me, while also canceling out all the noise that drives me bonkers.

I sometimes wear them in conjunction with ear plugs when music gets really loud.

I want to go and buy a whole bunch of them and decorate them to sell at my venue.

I have noise restricting earphones that go right into the ear, and have a volume switch on them that goes really loud. They don't come cheap but are cheaper than noise canceling headphones.

Even with the earphones in and music off they work just like earplugs, but if you don't want to be disturbed best way is to listen to music.

I have a pair of Sennheiser PXC-250 noise-cancelling headphones. They work well, and they are a lot less expensive than the Bose ones.
