I can't stand a normal shopping day at Walmart and yet loved the rush and crowd stuff of NYC and Black Friday. :-) (One subway trip in NY you were literally touching the person in front of you.)

No, not at all. "Rush", "crowd" and "NYC" just give me the shivers.

I can't handle crowds. I can't stand having so many people in close proximity to me, it's like there's no room for my personal space. I pretty much shut down when in crowded places.

Crowded waiting rooms are the worst, with stores and restaurants not far behind.

I go to Walmart every Friday. I don't drive so I stay in the car most of the time. I don't like being around people but I guess I atleast have a need to view the outside world from a distance, occasionaly.

I cannot handle crowds at all. I flip out and it takes me days to recover. So many people, so much movement, so much noise... I get confused and disoriented... if it is bad enough I disappear into myself and shut right down. Mostly though I just get stressed out and confused and have a meltdown or shut down when I get home and sleep for hours.

Crowds are not for me either. I disturb people somehow, so I like to keep my distance. I've been to NYC. Interesting place, but I don't think I would want to stay there. Too expensive, smells like diesel smoke, etc. It just doesn't fit with my purposes, which include living within my means, saving money, keeping my cost of living low, and having a reasonably good quality of life.

I don't mind them. The ones I can't stand are if people are shoving me.

I've been to NYC once. I've never been in a Wal-Mart but I assume they are like a Target or something.

So, my guess is that perhaps the NYC thing is different, because New York City has a kind of character of its own. I really don't like big cities at all, but New York has a kind of charm, and a special quality about it.

And Wal-Mart is just Wal-Mart. No character, no magic.

I could be wrong, but it's a thought.

I try to stay as far away from them as possible.

I think I do pretty well in crowds. I don't have to interact with them.

If I just have to get from A to B through a crowd, I can handle it. I just kinda buckle down and focus on getting through it. But they do make me very uncomfortable, so spending longer than that gets progressively worse.

I need to use the metro daily, so I learned to handle it. But always feels quite wrong...

That would be a negative.

Can't be around crowds. Visually it is confusing, noise is unbearable and, this may seem odd, I can't take the smell. So many different body odors, perfumes, colognes all mixed together can almost cause me to panic.

I depends on the type of crowd. I can handle being in restaurants because everyone is seated and it's the same with cinemas. I dislike the crowds on buses because we are all so close to one another and it's an enclosed space, but I can handle it. It's only when I get home that I'll either start crying or go to sleep. Mall crowds are very uncomfortable but I can handle them for a short time (no more than 10 minutes) if I have to. The main thing I can't tolerate is people walking in all directions and trying to navigate my way around them. The one type of crowd I absolutely can't tolerate is going to a dance or to any place with a large amount of people combined with music. There's too much noise, not enough space and I basically just sit in the corner of the room to try to block it all out.
