I have aspergers but it just seems that alot of this forum has either become a blame of nts or a feeling that they only abuse drugs or they dont care about how we feel. It just seems like cant we get along without blaming each other all of the time.

Bravo. I also get sick of the NT bashing.

In all honesty, I can fall into that pattern of "NT" bashing, and it is not healthy for me. I think in me, it comes from a feeling of being on the "outer" for so much of my life. And so i cling to the NT bashing at times as a defense.

I like this thread. The reality is, humans are humans - good and bad everywhere. I've met incredibly caring and wonderful NT's and I've met some AS people that I NEVER want to have ANYTHING to do with ever again because they turned out to be weird and nasty.

It's a good reminder.
I descended into a fair bit of private "NT bashing" with someone online recently. In the end it made me feel sick and I detached from it. Not a good way for me to live. I want to work on being rather joyful and happy and I want to strive for gratitude, openness and a life that is not defined by the great AS/NT divide that some adhere to permanently.

I think it's easy to associate the term NT with anyone who ever made you feel like less of a human for your differences, but the fact is there are many people who are neurotypical and also interesting, intelligent, creative people who don't see themselves as part of a mass herd of sheeple. Every time I hear NT bashing I think of these wonderful people who have the best of both worlds.

If it weren't for the two most important NTs in my life, my parents, I wouldn't be here. I'm sick of it, too.

I think when we live a a world where NTs out number us and call us weird or unusual, we want to delve into the WrongPlanet forums to let off some steam in a place were there aren't any NTs.
I just get confused by some NT behaviors.

They get confused by our behaviors.

Some people seem to use "NT" as shorthand for every human trait that's evil or just annoying; but that's not even correct use of the term.

I concur. Given the number of users with Asperger's Syndrome (and given its nature), it is to be expected to find a lot of venting of emotional stress. Many aspies cannot/do not know how to express the natural feelings of rejection from neurotypical society. I myself had a miserable time growing up in elementary school (the fact that it was a private school didn't help either, for some reason). Other kids would tease me because at this point I would make a 'growling' noise, which was a tic of mine. I have tourettes (dormant). I finally could no longer accept the idea that something was wrong with me, when social decay was 'normal. So, I rejected (and society in general, I do still reject, because of moral and ethical reasons however, not neurological ones) all others as being the ones with something 'wrong' with them. Again, I do not think that individually, neurotypical peoples are evil, wrong, what have you. As a whole, however, human society seems to lose the ability to... Reason.

Yep.

I don't think it's just an NT thing but rather a human thing to use a sample of people as scapegoats for most of one's issues. I've known enough NTs who have also been bullied by NTs for their quirks and differences.

You know, maybe I'm just missing them, but I actually don't see any NT-bashing threads here, ever. I see a post once in awhile that whines about "them" as if "they" were some organized card-carrying club, but not entire threads labeled NTs SUCK or anything like that.

But I swear it seems like I see a thread called "I'm so sick of all the NT bashing that goes on here" at least once or twice a week. Where is all this bashing going on? Is there a secret thread somewhere I haven't been initiated into?

"Okay, the first rule of NT Bashing - You don't talk about NT bashing. Well...okay, you can talk about NT bashing - just don't actually BASH any NTs. They bash back."

I really dislike any bashing of anyone really... unless that specific group of people actually did something to merit dislike essentially (i.e. my post earlier).

You know a lady from that forum actually messaged me to remind me it was for PARENTS of those with autism and not autistics themselves? Well, I am a parent, autistic or not, lol. Everyone there was pretty... bizarre in how they did things, and it wasn't because they were NT, it's just because all around they were all pretty irrational in their responses and just didn't stop and think about anything.

I don't bash people who respect me.

I don't think it's so much "NT bashing", but more like "anyone who fits in bashing". We are angry for living our lives on the outside so what do we do? We take it out on those who we perceive are the problem. It doesn't matter what the situation is, people are always looking for someone to blame. It seems that a lot on here think that all those without AS have hidden motives just like most people think that all Pitbulls are aggressive. The world would be a lot nicer if we just stopped stereotyping everything and everyone.

Then look at this thread: http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt119017.html

I don't know what you would call it, but "NT-bashing" comes pretty darn close.

As a whole, I don't hate neurotypicals, but some of them can be as*holes. I have known neurotypicals that have been patient and understanding of me.

And I've known autistics who are as*holes. So really, no correlation.
