At what age was he fixed? How long have you had him? Do you have currently, or have you had other cats that sprayed? How long since he was fixed

(I have lots of experience in this particular area)

I don't know. Let's hope he's not trying to get even with you for separating him from him manliness.

Is he peeing or spraying? Because if he is peeing then it might be that he has a bladder or kidney infection or something and needs to get checked by a vet (assuming he was good about using the box previously) . . . if he is spraying, then I'm not sure - fortunately all my male cats have behaved themselves on this point (though my kitty that recently died, Seth, used to PRETEND to spray) . . .

Have you changed the type of litter he uses? I just switched from some wood pellet kind of thing to clay, and my cat has had two % s" right outside the cat box. It is irritating, but he's not had one today, so hopefully...

If your cat is simply peeing, he may have a urinary infection of some kind in which case take him to see a vet. If your cat is spraying it needs its punishing but don't hit him. I think my auntie spayed lavender in her male cat's favourite spraying places now he only does it outside.

As has been said there is a possibility of a medical problem with the cat ( bladder infection, etc. ) I feel it should also be asked if anything radical has changed in the cat's life recently, primarily the amount of time its favorite people spend with it. When things change for animals they do things that will get your attention to tell you that something is wrong. Best of luck with your situation.
