Well, today I phoned up the National Autistic Society here in the UK to get some advice, and have arranged an appointment with my doctor for Thursday to discuss getting a diagnosis.

There is a diagnostician for Autism Spectrum disorders in Edinburgh, they are based some 8 miles from my home and the National Autistic Society had given me their details. I have to be referred to them by my doctor, which is the idea of my appointment on Thursday.

On Thursday I have to (or was advised by the National Autistic Society) give my doctor the reasons why I'm likely to be on the autism spectrum. I can certainly give her quite a few reasons, and for good measure I have a report on my early years, packed with clear indications that I'd likely have been on the autism spectrum then too. Not that anyone suspected autism then, let alone Asperger's, given this was late 70's/early 80's. I have stuff coming through in the mail from the National Autistic Society as well, so I'll be armed with information.

Just thought I'd tell everyone my news, about my minor breakthrough so far. :D

Sweet! I as well am in the beginning stages of getting a diagnosis, so I will wish you good luck. The only setback I'm having is the money.
