Does your facial expressions don't match?

Indeed, my emotions sometimes do not match, especially when i'm at the cinema's, people ask me are you ok? You look upset, do you want to talk about it?

Clearly my response is "Don't worry, i'm okay, just thinking." but I really don't even know why it happens and I clearly do not know why my facial expressions never match.... Everything else seems normal, its only when i'm concentrating or enjoying something, sometimes my facial expression starts to lose its grip and suddenly not match?

I clearly don't like it and I clearly wish I knew why I do it?

I'm wondering does anyone else here have this issue? (I kinda feel like i'm the only one who does. :( )

inner and outer often do not match with me.
I have an overly expressive face with some fairly odd expressions, I am told.

I know that when I don't concentrate on it, I get an expression that people have interpreted as angry, critical, sulky, haughty, or judgemental. I once got my entire volleyball team lectured on "attitude" by our coach. I went up to her afterward and said, "I'm sorry. I know that I can have a really angry or snooty look, but it doesn't mean anything. It's just how my face looks when relaxed. I forget to smile." The coaches understood and the team never got another lecture! I think people assume I'm either egotistical or perpetually grouchy, whichever thing they fear more in themselves.

My affect (facial expressions) ain't match my stated moods. I almost always appear super happy almost manic in the way I look and even act (mainly talking fast), but in reality I am severely depressed. Right now I am depressed, no one understands my point of view of things and its not that my point of view actually matters anyways. I am just so stupid. Now I am bringing down the world.

All my life I've been told "cheer up" and "smile" by complete strangers when I was feeling perfectly content, or even happy. It's so annoying! I usually just say I have a headache or am tired/distracted so they leave me alone quickly because I really hate when they say it. Years ago I tried practicing in a mirror trying to make my face look more neutral, but it feels unnatural and it looks strange anyway.

I almost, always have this sweet, sad looking face, something like this, no matter what mood I'm in. I can be ecstatic and I'll still look like this. I don't mind.

Image

That familiar face that I saw looking back at me, from the bathroom mirror of the factory that I worked in, many moons ago, in the 90s.

I wish that people would believe me when I tell them, that I'm happy. Other than that, it's a pretty face.

It's only when I'm concentrating on my facial expressions that they match what I'm feeling/what would be appropriate to the situation. As soon as I stop concentrating, such as when I actually wish to enjoy/focus on what I'm doing, my face goes blank again.

At the time I posted this message, my girlfriend text me and she said... "I can see that you seamed to fake it" and I replied, "What do you mean? I was being real then?" and I was very confused what she meant...

After 10 minutes of worrying I decided to call her and she was like, it was the way you was looking at me in the cinema and I don't know if she misinterpreted it or the fact my facial expressions were at the wrong place at the wrong time, I ended up telling her that I don't all the time have matching facial expressions... when i'm concentrating on something or watching something...

The worst thing, she might think I could be lying... because she has never really noticed it until yesterday and the other previous cinema trips we both went to. Normally I would have to lie about it saying I just have a headache or i'm just thinking or worrying and make up something but this time, I had to tell her that my facial expressions don't always match... Glad she was understanding about it.

I think that could of been the reason why me and her was arguing alot in the past...? I feel so bad now.

And i'm surprised that she doesn't get these issues apart from when she is daydreaming....

Yep, all the time. I try to explain to to people, they either don't believe me, or they do, but then forget a minute later and continue to bother me about it. :x

Oh yes, that aswell, you happened to just remind me, the day we both was talking about black holes, my sister came into the room and she was like why are you looking down and miserable all the time? That was like 10 minutes after she walked past.

I was looking and reading about space and that at the time.... I just all of a sudden got hooked into it again.

There was also another time when I was having my lunch at I sorta looked down and I definitely didn't realise it and he asked me if I was okay and that was like 5 minutes later, it didn't annoy me as such because I managed to cover it up and say I'm exhausted. (which I actually was)

It sorta annoys me a little that I all the time have to put on a mask to cover it up, its like actors making a mistake but manages to cover it up and making it seem unnoticeable.

My face is very little expressive.
