Anyone ever had a name or word that describes their Aspieness thrown at them? I know weird and different are one of the examples.

I think the word weird is often used with Aspieness.

In terms of stereotypes for autism, the current model for autism going around is that everyone is exactly like Temple Grandin so everyone with autism should turn out like her life did.

The reality is that everyone with autism is different (like different fingerprints).

"You're a strange one!"

( presumably meaning strange woman / female / person / human )

I get that quite often, accompanied by some kind of quizzical look.
I usually reply "Thanks, it's true." or something similar. It is one phrase which I prefer to take as a compliment, since it does indicate some recognition of the fact that I am different, which also offers the potential for better mutual understanding.

But strange, weird, unusual, different aren't in themselves derogatory terms, ret*d is.

tbh, if you say a strong "Thank you." to any insult, most people will be so confused it will shut them up.

Why are Aspergians so willing to degrade themselves publicly? When I see these threads, I always feel that whoever posts them and then keeps them alive are like BDSM bottoms or something, and they just revel in humiliation.

Among other things, I've been called "slow", "socially inept", "eccentric", "heartless", and "an intellectual".

Everybody who meets me for the first time doesn't necessarily think I'm weird, but they do notice that I'm very shy and withdrawn. So I would say that that's another stereotype for Asperger's.

All disabilities are classed as "special", so all NT's are bound to be genuinely envious of us. NT's are the freaks, not us.

Stereotyping doesn't seem a big problem to me, as most people have never even heard of Aspergers, much less formed a stereotype of what an Aspie is supposed to be.

Calling you weird or different isn't stereotyping, though - that sounds more like someone who doesn't know what an Aspie is trying and failing to find the right word for it.
