in all my research, i have found one outstanding symptoms list which covers everything...i will slowly go over this as we discuss it.....i will go through 2 symptoms per day until this is done

Social characteristics of asperger's disorder:

1-difficulty in accepting criticism or correction, this symptom is usually mild to moderate.............in my youth this was so very true, i would not like you very much if you criticized me, as i got older, it regressed

2- difficulty in offering correction or criticism without appearing harsh, pendantic, or insensitive...this symptom is usually moderate to severe...............again in my youth, i was terrible at directing criticism, trying to make people seem foolish or stupid on purpose.again, as i got older, i learned the fine touch of giving constructive, diplomatic criticism

^^ Yaaaaye, I believe I am blessed by these symptoms very happily indeed, and have certainly improved both a very large amount. ^^ I am have been greatly worry that I have been misdiagnosed with High Functioning Autism as my cildy self differs greatly from my current self, yet those two traits describe myself very happily indeed I believe. ^^ I now wish to accept criticism very well, as I believe I understand so many matters greater now than when I was a child (I was horrible I believe).

Still working on both points, although like most, you get better at these with time.

I would accept criticism from people whose opinions I respected, such as my piano teacher. She had a somewhat indirect style, however, that was extremely constructive without being overly critical. Overly critical teachers never appealed to me.

If discussion lies somewhere in my interests, I have a tendency to assume that everyone has given the subject matter as much thought as I have. When it's very apparent they haven't and they criticize my position or effort, I get very frustrated and sometimes lash out at people. I am not proud of this at all. Being aware of this tendency is extremely important to controlling myself.

I relate to both of those so much, especailly the first one. I'm not as bad as I used to be, but those traits are still two of the strongest ones.

My NT emulation script overrides these two characteristics.

Both apply to me, I don't need someone to criticise me, I do that enough myself and every time I try to give helpfull criticism people take it as me 'being a jerk'.

^ i worked on it to, consciously and cognitively...to the point of exhaustion.. and i was stille told i exhibited both of them.
It is so tiring trying to work on it that i have given up, and I actually feel happier for it, in spite of the criticism.
NT emulation just led to suicidal ideation of an obsessive nature in my case, so i have opted out on that one too, for good. Now I mosey around happier and more eccentric than ever before. (and the emulation never worked anyway, in my case....)

Yes on both counts... and working on them both. I'm much better at accepting constructive criticism than I used to be, and I'm sure watching my tone and approach these days when offering it. I've recently been told I was a very good instructor, so I'm encouraged. :)

I'm nice about giving criticism to others, but I can't take criticism without feeling like it's a personal attack, and I always wind up with hurt feelings. As an example, if someone criticized my artwork, I would perceive it as them calling me a bad artist.

No one is really open to criticism in general :?

Heh, I'm always open to it.

Maybe I'm not autistic. :? ...yeah right
