I'm just curious in finding something to read about different types of meltdowns, if that's how it is.

Basically, I hear a lot about sensory overload meltdowns, but with me as a kid, I had severe meltdowns with an overload of negative emotion. For example, someone would call me a bad name, they keep doing it, I would explode and cry and stuff, for a long period of time. I can't seem to find out any info about this sort of meltdown.

Also, a list of conditions that could cause this sort of meltdown. I'm still playing detective here and trying to narrow down the list of conditions that would cause such episodes.

Emotional overload isn't any different than having a meltdown over sensory overload. It is still overload. It's typical of asperger's.

There are two types of meltdowns. Emotional and violent.

An emotional meltdown is when the person breaks down and cries for 5 to 15 minutes.

A violent meltdown, is when the person throws things, or he/she tries to harm them self, or others.

I experience the first type of meltdown.

Most of us can not stop them from happening once they start, but we can prevent them.

What would be breaks down and cries for half and hour but also screams and kicks while sometimes hitting people if they get to close?

And I understand the can't stop part. I remember one moment as a kid realizing what was going to happen and feeling horrible that I just couldn't derail the inevitability.

I guess it'd be both. The violent one always leads the emotional one, for me. They aren't any categories for a meltdown.
