I was just watching BBC news and there was a story on about tasers. They are becoming more popular with police in America and the UK. It showed actual video footage of a black man who was having an epileptic seizure being tased four times until he suffered a heart attack. He couldn't help but resist but the coppers just said stupid things like "Want another one?" Argh!! ! This makes me so mad. And a man in the UK was tased following paranoia about terrorism who was having a diabetic seizure. I think Aspies are at risk here too with our idiosyncrasies. I hate tasers!! Why the hell are humans so cruel????

Bigotry is the greatest ignorance and human de-evolutionary mentality that has ever existed. The tasers are safer then guns, they are abusing there authority and need to be jailed if true.

I think about this a lot the fact that there "nonlethal" means they will be used more and more not just for life threating situations but for noncompilance. Training is key for any tpye of law enforcement and they should know the driffence between a seizer and real violent behavoir but as it stand now they dodn't.

Yeah there was a case of overuse of tasers here in the small town where I lived where it was used like 4-5 times on a guy and then one of the cops kicked him in the head and the guy died.

Oh my god is right!

Racism is terrible! Everyone should be treated equally! There is no excuse for such mean tactics to be done to innocent people!

That is really scary and this sort of thing frightens me too...

"A man and a woman — both in their 80s — were injured as TACT team members secured the house although no drugs were found." "Beshears said the woman received a dislocated shoulder and the man received bruised ribs."

Tasers... Sounds like bullies with new toys.
Those sorts of people disgust me.

I think it is a step up from blowing big giant messy holes in people.

I think the cops have guns, too... you can't exactly stop somebody with a taser if they've got a gun.

A cop has got to have a nonlethal weapon of some sort, when just telling a man to put his hands up isn't working. I'm more for giving them short rubber clubs and the training to use them properly, as well as training on how to restrain people--maybe things like wrestling locks--if they look to be too weak to take a knock to the head. A taser can be harmful to people with things like pacemakers...

The obvious problem with "less-lethal" weapons is that people think of them as "non-lethal" weapons. This is less hesitance to use it, especially if the user is motivated by bad emotionals.

But on the other hand, would you prefer that the man was shot instead?

I believe they are given courses on this already. I know they are taught some Aikido moves. But a cop doesn't want to get within striking distance of a danergous person who could have a hidden weapon.
