Anyone sensitive to certain textures of food? I don't like slimy, watery (like in cucumbers when you bite into them), or very chewy textures. That's why I had a very hard time eating vegetables when I was younger. I can eat veggies now, although there are still some I won't eat such as cucumbers, pickles, carrots and tomatoes. I also don't like Jell-O because of it's feels slimy in my mouth.

Ever since I was little, I haven't been able to eat bananas. I don't mind the flavor; I'll eat pie or candy that tastes like bananas... but something about the gooey pulpiness of the fruit has always been repulsive to me.

Hell yeah! I hate chewy food! And strange looking (only for me) textures of food. Oh, and I can't eat peaches unless I peal it from the terrible hairy covering thing.

I don't care for creamy type foods, or sauces, and I don't like the creamy textures of sour cream and cream cheese. I wouldn't touch pasta with any type of a creamy, white sauce, with a 10 ft pole. I'm also turned off by the taste and texture of processed cheese, because that's not the way that Cheddar is supposed to look, or taste. It's supposed to be hard, sharp and orange, not beige, weak and squishy.

Yes- I can't handle mixed textures. This includes chunky sauces such as spaghetti sauce, or even some random items such as soup with vegetables (even vegetables I really like). Or baked items with raisins or nuts in, such as scones or banana bread. I often like the *taste* of these items, but just cannot handle the feel of them in my mouth. I've definitely gotten much better however (it used to take me ages to eat things like casseroles because I would completely dissect them to eat each ingredient separately).

Tapioca or rice pudding feels like eating mucus. I eat mushrooms, but can't bring myself to chew them. So I pick them off pizza and swallow them whole. I don't like to eat tomatoes because of the sliminess. If the wet, seedy parts are gone though, I don't mind as much. I don't really like berries, for various reasons.

Overall, I'm not very picky. I eat sushi regularly, the only kind I don't like is eel. I've eaten all sorts of things... beef tongue was weird as hell because of the taste buds, but it tasted great! And that's the only time I've had another tongue in my mouth.

I can't stand the texture of most curries. I never could. The mushy solids and thick sauce.. Blegh.

I never eat mushrooms or avocados because of their texture and I've always been that way. I feel like it's eating worms or slugs or something. Used to have that problem with tomatoes, but I can cope with some now.

Also, I strongly detest omelet. I like other egg based food, but the thought of omelet makes me feel sick. Not sure if that's because of texture or taste or perhaps a combination.

I have always been a vegetarian, so I've probably missed a good number of animal dishes that I can't handle.

When I was a kid, I couldn't stand the texture of any sort of pasta. I would literally gag on it. I eventually became able to tolerate it but I still don't like it and will only eat it if I really have to.

Anything slimy I cannot handle. No mushy.

Gritty is hard, as are stringy, gluey, floury. Turkeey white meat is not only nearly tasteless but too flaky dry for me.

Banana is great when firm. Crunchy and chewy are fine.

And then of course there are the tastes, in some cases reinforcing the texture.

i don't like peanut butter stuck fast to the roof of my mouth as it always does when i try to eat it, it makes me choke. i have to mix it with margarine so that it smooths out and floozes down my gullet. it also tastes better that way.

green [underripe] bananas make my teeth squeak distressingly. i have to rinse with mouthwash to get rid of that squeakiness. only just-ripe ones for me.

had some fancy caviar once, it reminded me of a bunch of little gummy rubber balls soaked in soy sauce. this caddilac flavor must have disagreed with my chevy tastes. no thanks.

the jelly mixed with seeds in tomatoes makes me gag. slimy, tastes like the sea. tomatoes must be well-cooked or pulverized for me to take them.

raw onions are harsh, like they were made of crunchy wet printer paper soaked in toner or turpentine. these must be well-cooked for me to tolerate them.

most caramels suck my tooth-caps away and wrench my jaw-joints. must avoid gooey chewy caramels in general.

biscotti just wrecks my whole mouth and jaw. breaks teeth. no thanks.

i cannot even stand the thought of chewing ice. GADS!

cucumbers taste like ickily Grunchy [well, i can't really say what they taste like HERE!] - on the adult forums, though.

caraway seeds and their flavor get stuck between my teeth and have a weird "off-minty" flavor.

mushrooms have an unpleasant rubbery texture and a weird rooty/fungussy flavor that i don't care for.

When I was a kid this was a big problem for me. Everything was either too hot, too cold, too mushy, too chewy or too crunchy. Now though I can eat foods of any texture.

For me it's certain types of sea food. I just can't seem to stomach calamari. No matter how fried the outside is, it's always too chewy & rubbery inside. And I quickly discovered that eating Nigiri-sushi was nothing like eating the canned tuna I'd find at the local super market. The texture was completely different.

Peas. I have ALWAYS hated the texture of peas--little pockets of gross mush. I have the same issue with beans. I've gotten better about eating certain types of beans now that I'm older, but still, peas are just gross to me.

I got my girlfriend to inform me to just go spit my food out when she notices I'm stuck in an endless chew cycle because the texture/unpleasant mental image/foreign particles on the food made me unable to swallow, but I am loathe to waste food, and prefer to simply get it over with so I don't have to eat again for a while.

Mushrooms, Yams, Carrots, overly fatty meat, anything resembling gristle, anything that crunches unexpectedly is enough to make me start gagging (ever bitten into a bit of bone in a salmon patty?), overly creamy mashed potatos, licorice, rare meat has a great texture, but seeing the pinkness in my head makes me gag.
