As young as I can remember I felt I was born the wrong species. I was intrested in the furry comunity for a while and draw myself as a meerkat/cat hybred and refur to it as my "fursona" but aside from that, I don't think I classify as a furry. I lost intrest in the furry community because the animals still had human charastics and running around in a mascot costume isn't my idea of a good time or connecting with my "inner self". The furry comunity overall just seems like another cosplay and the people who do it are usauly in it for fun. I'm serious when I say I feel as if I was born the wrong species. I wonder if I really have some form of underdiagnosed or undiscovered form of lycanthropy. I've felt as if I was born the wrong species since I was able to remember anything. Is feeling as if you were born in the body of the wrong species common to AS?

I don't think I feel like a different species as I can't think of any creature with whom I share any traits. Having said that, while I look human, I don't feel terribly human, or rather, compared with other humans I don't feel like one of them. Never have.

My view of self is always changing. Currently I fancy myself as a well programmed, 100,000 year-old robot.

How do you know that the way you feel, your "inner self", isn't exactly how a human is? And if you "just know" then how can you possibly discover which species, if any, is compatible?

Just thinking it looks cute/cool or identifying with it's observed mannerisms isn't enough, because they don't indicate what it "feels" like to be that creature.

I'm a person, but I'm not a Human. I always capitalize the word "Human," because it refers to a sentient race of beings--just not my own.

I don't really know what I am, but I gave it a name: Spark.

I imagine that feeling isolated is common to those on the spectrum and I guess that feeling as though you were born as the wrong species could result from that.

I know that my blood test results are being tampered with, being made to look "normal". I know that human is not what I am. This isn't an AS thing, it's a me thing.

I suppose you are so obsessed you start to feel like the animal you are so obsessed about.
When I was little I wanted to be a boy. I was not tomboy or a lesbian as people said, but I just mimicked boys so perfectly. Even these days I'm sick of trying to look girly.
I've never really saw myself as an animal...maybe a monkey. There was a time when I was obsessed with them. I was a climber and made the noises too.
Actually I used to pretend to be a dog before reaching adolescence. Yes I can recall it now; walking like a dog, eating like a dog, sitting like a dog. My mum must have been so worried about me. I even used to roll up my fingers so it looked like I had paws instead of fingers.

I did this also. I used to be all sorts of animals. Every morning I made my parents cut out paper ears or trunk...or whatnot and make me into some kind of animal. Then for about half of a day I would "be" that animal. For a little while as a small child, I actually thought it was possible to become a dog.

Now however, I know and feel like a human, but a different kind of human than most of the population.....if that makes any sense.

I understand animals a whole lot better since they are completely unfull of garbage unlike humans. They are straight shooters and are easier to read. Actually I don't think it's a human animal thing, I think it's a species thing since when I watch monkeys/chimps at the zoo I totally can see the human jerkiness in their behaviors. I think the wrong species evolved.

I always wanted to be like Björk, but it's hard to do when you are 180 (6'0) tall
