When I come home I usually jump, clap my hands, make loud low-pitched "euhhhh" and "eeeeeee" noises, animal sounds, shout out random phrases, etc. I then start walking on all fours and shouting "I'm a tractor euhhhhhh" and then start making tractor noises and rolling on the floor. I then start moving my body parts in a chaotic manner, get up, lay down on my bed and keep turning around. I then punch walls and doors while screaming "euhhhhhh".

Doing all this makes me feel better emotionally, as well as energized.

And when I'm angry, I start punching walls, doors, windows, tables, etc, and it relieves my anger a lot. My neighbors called the police several times because they thought somebody was being murdered, and a SWAT team with assault rifles came.

Why do I do this? I once rolled on the floor in public when I thought nobody except for some classmates whom I knew rather well saw me (they like seeing me roll on the floor, and I feel energized after doing it), and then someone passed by and said that he pitied me.

Have you ever tried not doing it? I don't know why you do that. If it's some kind of ritual, maybe it's OCD? If it's something you want to stop, try to not do it. It's possible not to do it, unless it's an unconscious muscle movement.

Trying not to do it feels very uncomfortable and often unbearable.

And it isn't a ritual since it lacks organization. I can make tractor noises first, then punch the doors, then start clapping my hands, then jumping, or the other way around, or without any order. However, I usually make a loud "euhhhhhh" noise 80% of the time I'm doing it.

Feeling uncomfortable is part of the process of changing this kind of behavior. You have to withstand the discomfort for as long as possible before giving in to it. The more you do that, the longer you can withstand it. Eventually you can do without the jumping around tractor stuff, and after that eventually the discomfort will fade and you will look back and think "What on earth did I ever do something like that for??"

It gets unbearable if I try not to do it. I doubt I even want to stop doing it. I'm simply asking what could be causing this, since many people have told me that this is very abnormal and that I should seek help.

It does seem abnormal to me as well, or at least not normal. If you want to stop it because it's not normal, then I'd suggest making yourself wait longer and longer each time you come home. Every day make yourself wait a minute longer. When it gets to be unbearable, force yourself to wait for one more minute.

I have no idea why you do it, a psychiatrist might be able to tell you. If it's not something uncontrollable, like a tic, then a psych would be your best bet, and it is physically possible not to do it, even though it's psychologically extremely uncomfortable.

Do you do it when someone is there?

@Transhuman : If you imagine that you are doing this instead of doing it, can it bring the same kind of relief ?

Anyway, I have similar feelings, and I think they are related to transfering psychological energy into movements to dissipate it. Most of the time, it is because I was afraid or because I am happy.

It can also be linked to territory issue. It's a way to take possession of the territory.

Does that makes sense for you ?

No. Usually not, but I do it in front of some people I know who find such behavior funny. It's rather embarrassing when people pass by, see me doing it, and say that they pity me, though. At first, when they do say it, it's funny, but when you start thinking about it afterward, it isn't funny anymore.

when I'm pissed-off I grunt, basically I contract/tighten my throat... I don't realize it when I do it until someone points it out, "Hey why do you make those noises?"

It's some kind of stimming I guess, a way to relief the tension.

I think it's simply a form of emotional outlet. Neuro-typicals named it stimming BUT it's their equivalent of unwinding.

Instead of reaching for a glass of chilled wine when you want to unwind; you may choose to roll on the ground and make tractor noises.

You might experience a richer emotional response IF the internal affect is accompanied by an external effect. Who knows, one day, research may find out that these so-called stimming
behaviors are essential in regulating meltdowns.

*Just an opinion and should be taken as such.

Thanks a lot for all your input. What astonished me is that after watching the way those with the low functioning autism act, their behavior is very similar to this 'unwinding/stimming' which I experience. It's almost identical - same noises, gestures, and so on and so forth.
