All people have some sense of dress code. They are either always dressed clean and smart or they go the other extreme and leave the house scruffy. Some dress differently for different occasions.
I am not talking about cleanliness just dress, how do you personally dress and do you take the time and effort to dress according to where and with whom you may be going out with?
I always like to dress clean and smart, I like people to see that I take care in my appearance, yes I maybe overweight, but my clothes are clean and presentable, no holes in my trousers and no chocolate stains on my jumpers etc.
So how do you like to dress and is it important to you what others think about your appearance. :D

I like to dress neat, clean and comfortable.
If my clothes aren't "in", I don't care. It is hard for me to go clothes shopping sometimes as it is hard for me to find something I like. Second-hand clothes are usually good as they are worn-in and soft. I have more second-hand clothes than I do new clothes.

I mostly dress casual (jeans + no-print sweaters)
or metal (bandshirt + camo pants)

lately I'm also wearing black shirt + pants, and a white tie. It looks great :D

I'm more or less a jeans and a Tshirt girl but it depends what mood I'm in dress sense wise. Sometimes I like to look smart, sometimes I like to wear my ripped jeans and a tiny top, other times I will make myself look girly (even by wearing pink!) but then I can also dress quite outrageously. Today I'm looking very smart but that's only because I had a job interview about two hours ago.

mostly casual here, jean, t-shirt.

and like a thing I read on einstein maybe 20 years ago, I have like 4 same pair of jeans, 4 same t-shirts, etc, so everyday I can have clean dress but I still have the same look, doing a wash before running on empty :)

Thanks guys for all your replys. It just takes time and care to make sure one is dressed comfortable, clean and to make a good impression. My husband says you can only make a first impression once.
When my dad was courting my mum he went to her house to pick her up for their first date, he was wearing black jeans and a black t shirt, My grandad sent him home to change saying "Your not taking my daughter out dressed like that. Go home and put on a suit." My dad walked home about three miles and put on his only suit, he always picked her up in his suit after that.

But the young these days don't seem to care how they dress. With hoodies and strange dress sense, fashion and the In clothes.

Fortunately my young adults are not into fashion or hoodies, they being AS they have their own sense of dress, with Claire it's always jeans and a t shirt, Ben likes fancy shirts and must have nearly twenty of them, so he wears jeans and a shirt. Adam wears trousers and occasionally a pair of jeans, but he doesn't like throwing servicable old ones away, so he has some clothes that are a wee too small, but we are slowly building up his wardrobe so he may yet throw the small ones away. He does have a really nice wolf hooded jumper that is just stunning. But he does have to be reminded occasionally to change before we or he goes out. My husband has to be reminded to change his clothes every other day or he will wear the same pair of trousers and jumper all week. lol.

Do any of you have a favourite sort of clothes you like to wear like Ben with his shirts?

I don't have a dress code. I'm random. Smart, messy, stylish, casual.

It would be great if we could wear what we wanted and not thought odd for it, then we could dress like a pimp or prostitute. But then there wouldn't be different dress for different people.
At the moment I wear what is comfortable for my size, I am 5foot 1inch and I weigh 14 stone. But I am aiming for about 10 stone. So I have been thinking about what sort of style I want. When there will be a much wider choice of clothes to wear.
:D :D

I wear what's comfortable. Most clothes restrain movement, and I HATE that!

On the other hand, I'm very modest.

At home I wear a bathrobe. it's my home! :)

Why? I love wearing suits every so often, it's one thing I have a nostalgic thing about.
Up until the 70's in Australia, a lot of men would wear a suit and tie just to go to the pub for a counter meal, I love that idea. So a suit one day, like a pimp the next, like a hippie another day, then maybe just jeans and a t-shirt. I basically have little sense of occasion, of course I'll wear a suit when it's expected but otherwise I just dress how I feel like for anything.

I described my dress sense on another thread as "Maharishi meets used car salesman" and attributed it to my patronage of the great op-shops we have in Melbourne's inner west. Last night I DJ'd resplendent in my favourite tartan stovepipe pants, with a sleeveless jumper over...wait for it...a wide collared white satin shirt. I wasn't sure if I'd get away with it but it got plenty of compliments, including from someone I've got a huge crush on...actually last time I tried out that combination 18 months ago I picked up... :D...even though she approached me thinking I was gay...

I'm thought odd whatever I do so what the heck?

That's funny, I never thought of Einstein as much of a jeans and t-shirt kind of guy. He would have looked cool though...like an old hippie dude...especially if it was a Grateful Dead t-shirt.

I dress smartly most of the time. For work, I wear full suit, collar and tie and, most importantly, polished shoes. Away from work, I try to maintain a smart appearance - jacket/blazer and trousers plus polished shoes again. This may be a generational thing, but it’s the way that I’ve always dressed.
Nowadays, I just like to rebel against the casual-Friday, dress-down ethos that appears to be the prevailing dress code.

Practicality first, any degree of style second.

I like wearing skirts and dresses since most pants are too short for my long legs. Jeans too as they come in extra-long sizes for most brands. I love clothes shopping but looking for shoes that actually fit is torture. My narrow feet only allow for shoes that have adjustable straps or laces being that most stores don't carry shoes in narrow widths.

Plus being a size 10 limits my choices since it's always the first size the store runs out of. The salespeople say it's because they only order two pair of size ten shoes per style and interestingly, get stolen more. So why don't these clods order more of them, then?

I can't stand high heels and being that most women shoes have them, that narrows my choices down even further. Therefore, I only have a few at a time....and all in black with the exception of a sky blue pair of loafers.

I cover my chest, stomach, pelvis, and thighs at all times as a matter of curtosy to the public. I'd wear a mask and helmet too, but that might bother some people.

I cover all that and my back and shoulders too. Not so much out of courtesy to the public, more as a fire safety precaution. 8O
