(I don't know if I have Asperger's by the way, but some of the criteria fits me.)

I sometimes have trouble watching animated TV shows. If things are moving fast, it will be hard for me to see all of it. Also, I get confused during my TV shows. I'll watch one scene, then blank on what actually happened. (So then the next scene doesn't make sense.)

Does anyone else have this problem, or is it just me?

I will blank when watching live action TV shows, especially cop dramas, but I am fine with animation. More than fine, really. It makes a lot more sense to me than live action.

No, I play a lot of fast paced video games on XBL so I am used to it. However this could be a component of your sensory deficit.

A visual processing disorder maybe? I only have this problem with really fast action like in some videogames. I can't look at strobe lights and I hate playing Sonic and the Secret Rings or any other wii games that are so fast paced.

Strange! I absolutely LOVE strobe lights and find them more comforting and relaxing than normal ceiling lights! I like the repetition of the flashing :D

Did you ever try levitating by jumping up and down?
Or confuse someone or a pet by poking them in between flashes?
Or if the sink is dripping you can make the drips go up or stay where they are.
Or play with glowsticks, they jump in and out of your hands between flashes.
Or make a fan slow down and stop and go the other way.
Its all kinds of Fun and Magic if they don't bother you.

I often "blank out" like that. It seems to depend on my mood, one time I can take in a whole film without losing attention at all, then I can watch the same film some other time and miss out on whole chunks of it. Sometimes my mind just won't focus. Seems to be related to stress levels. I've heard of drugs that are supposed to be helpful but it's never been such a problem that I'd want to go that way to fix it, being rather wary of the health risks of drugs. I don't lose my concentration in heavy traffic, for example....it always seems to be things that aren't really all that important, especially now my employer knows I have AS and would therefore have to accept my attention defecit.

Hmm... actually yeah, my mind does wander a lot when I (try to) watch TV... But I don't watch TV or movies much because of it. I just thought that I tend to zone out when I watch it because I'm not interested in it. I generally need stimulants to watch a whole movie because otherwise I'm too restless. Maybe it is a bit of attention deficit. I think, in general, aspies are only able to focus on one thing at a time so maybe if you start thinking any other thoughts then you can't remember what you were watching on TV?

That's what happens to me. I just start thinking of something else and that's where my attention goes. Strangely, the harder I try to consciously focus on a thing, the more difficult it gets. It's as if my mind has a mind of its own when it comes to attention.

Am not sure if I understand you. Sometimes I watch a movie or something and I start thinking about something else and although am looking at the screen, I "don't see" anything, am completly lost in my thoughts. This happens also when somebody is talking to me and I get bored.

That's one of the reasons, that I hardly ever watch TV. There's no use in watching TV, if that happens, more often than most, to the point of getting no enjoyment out of it.

i have trouble following films as well especially if the plot is complicated. perhaps it's because i find it hard to concentrate, i drift off to my own thoughts every so often and miss bits of whatever i am watching. even when i am totally focused, i still don't really get what's going on at times. maybe i am just thick or maybe it's Asperger.

I don't have this issue, I tend to be good at catching fast things with my eyes, just slow to act on them.

That happens to me sometimes. I will start watching a movie or a tv show and I will start thinking of something and get completely lost in my thoughts. Sometimes ten or fifteen minutes will go by before I realize I have no idea whats happening on the tv. After that I usually have no interest in what I was watching and watch something else or go do something else
