I'm going now to pick up a new med prescription for Focalin for my 13 year old. He's been using Vyvanse, and after an initial benefit, we feel like for two months it's basically been not helping at all. Would love to hear everyone's experience if they've been using Focalin. Was it beneficial for you? Did you have side effects? I appreciate any thoughts that you could provide on this subject.

HATE IT

Our (then) 7-year-old tried Focalin, as a step up from 10 mg of MetaDate - and the Focalin made him act like he was up doing lines all night - it was terrible. We switched back to a higher dose of MetaDate and it worked great.

That's not good to hear. We had my son on Metadate for 6th and 7th grade, and it no longer worked for him. We've been struggling with other meds this year, and were hoping that Focalin might work. I'm glad that a higher dose of Metadate worked for your son!

DS has the Focalin, and so far so good. No reaction right now. The dosage is 10 mg. to start. If he doesn't see a benefit, dr. will up the dosage. I have been concerned that he would have an adverse reaction, since doing much research on Focalin on the internet. I'm becoming afraid that my son doesn't respond to any of these medicines without having dosages that would be over the limit. Oh well . . .
