I like zoning out
There aren't many occasions when I shouldn't do it, so I don't feel guilty when I do so. If anybody notices it, I say "pardon me, I got lost".
My biggest problem with it is that it makes talking to people very hard. Even if I excuse myself for being "tired", I still am sort of lost in a fog and can't interact as well as normally. And under normal conditions, I'm not so great at it either, so it's very hobbling. I need some extra focus to remember to look at people, greet them, smile, etc.
I understand. I think we have different needs,
Sholf, I zone out when am bored and I don't know how to chitchat and actually don't want to talk. I don't know how to help you, am sorry
