Looking back on my being diagnosed with AS, I realized the break through for me was when I acknowledged that no matter how intelligently I communicate; how much I achieve,
my level of education, etc., I will always be viewed as a ret*d. While I can most certainly control how I think and the attitudes I have, I have no control how others view me. It seems that for a long time I was caught in the trap of always trying to please others. I thought that by do so that I might be accepted by them. I also fell into the trap of drugs and alcohol. By numbing myself and my feelings I didn't have to face the unpleasant reality of how I was viewed. Thank God I no longer have the need for such crutches.

I've faced my wild elephant, last fall in September and October. I've realized that the spiked hair, leather and safety pins were actually making me look less intelligent, and that my anger was getting out of hand. I've decided to face up to the fact, that I'm a vulnerable person who likes the Mid-60s. I've also realized that, I would been seen as a ret*d, no matter how I looked, and that the green hair didn't help. I find that I get a lot more respect, these days, I'm not treated like garbage, and more people say 'hello' to me. Go figure!

Replace "I will always be viewed as a ret*d" with "I will always be viewed as a child" and I wholeheartedly agree.

I thought it was a wild white elephant.

no matter how much your social skills improve, it'll be obvious to NTs that something is "off"; you can't "fool 'em". And trying to get them to like you...will make you look retarted.

Stop even caring what they think, and do your own thing.

I'm a die-hard toy fanatic, I'm in love with the '80s, and use a lot of old expressions entirely for satirical purposes..half the time, just to get a "wtf" reaction out of people; it's a lot of fun.

When I want clothes, I hit up the clearance section at Wal-Mart; in time hopefully I can afford some Armani suits, but until that day comes, I'm gonna buy whatever I can for dirt cheap.

Don't care what the popular styles are, cause they constantly go in and out.

I don't follow popular hairstyles; my hair style is where my hair parts, and that's it.

I own a leather jacket cause I love the style, and I'm also a nut for top hats; are either of them truly fashionable anymore? No...yet I love them all the same.
