I've always known this, but never thought about talking about it. I had a fever recently and noticed that I became very relaxed and my normal tendency to over think everything was gone. Emotions were processed better and it was just an overall great experience minus the headaches, and sore throat. I have the fuller story at on my blog http://lifeontheothersideofthewall.blog ... ffect.html and welcome your input either on here or over there.

It could be that in a normal state, you are having trouble processing all your senses and are generally always somewhat overloaded. This could be being relieved when your mind is slowed down and focused on other things. Thankfully, I personally am not very often feverish, but when I am, I don't find it a pleasant experience in the same way that I don't find being drunk a pleasant experience because I have no chance of computing my emotions and thoughts. I think it's something you could work on achieving without having a fever. Perhaps trying to pretend you have a fever could relax your brain and thoughts.

I've also notice something along similar lines. I find that I do better memorizing and testing when I have a fever. But I figured that was more coincidence than anything else.

Apparently this is a pretty common experience. Here's why some neuroscientists think it happens: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/20 ... 145312.htm and a more expanded description here http://mosaicofminds.blogspot.com/2009/ ... links.html Cool, huh?

I have had several bouts with Scarlet Fever, as well as Tonsil Stones (Who ever thought such a thing were possible...I did not believe my Doctor when she told me I had Tonsil Stones...but I digress)

Each time with scarlet fever, I have felt sorta Meh when I went to bed and woke up with a 103-104-105 temp the next AM, and considering my typical body temp is slightly lower than the "norm" (97.2 is average for me) those high fevers do a number on me. I hallucinate, lose track of time, can barely focus on a conversation or anything at all, am basically 9 shades of useless to everyone around me, as well as myself.

However, with the Tonsil Stones, I run only a moderate fever, 100-102 and It is like my focus is supercharged, I blow through projects, conversations, tasks, as long as they are singular.....add in distractions such as additional participants in a conversation, and I am done for, I can't hold more than one thought or focus at a time and it all turns to poo in a matter of seconds.

When I have a slight fever from Tonsil Stones, 99-100 I can barely function as I am on informational overload....every bit of clothing I own is too scratchy or too silky, it is always too warm or too cold, it is always too bright or too dark, too loud or too soft, there is no happy medium.
