When I was younger I used to talk too loud sometimes. The people around me would let me know. Now I just don't talk much.

I was a bit frustrated by the "8 hours earlier" part, too... but the episode was all right. I liked the last bit better than most of the episode. I just had a hard time reconciling the idea of House outside his usual environment so it didn't feel like a House episode to me.

Often people tell me to speak softer when i'm someplace in public and i really get into a conversation. Although, the rest of the time i get told that i speak too quietly. Sometimes i guess i sort of mumble things to myself and i don't realize that other people don't hear me.

This is something that has and still happens with me. Often I don't even realize how loud I'm talking till someone brings it up. Strange how I don't notice myself talking loudly, yet I can easily notice and even feel annoyed by others talking too loudly.

Same. When I'm excited about talking on a specific topic of interest, or if I'm talking about something from memory, I talk really loud. When it is something that requires more thought, I tend to mumble under my nose because I'm thinking about it at the same time. It's also because I'm scared of blurting out something stupid, so I say it quietly so that it doesn't seem like I'm ignoring people, but at the same time I talk quietly in these cases in hopes that the other person doesn't hear what I've said correctly and asks me to repeat it again.

I've brought this issue up and seen it in many other posts so sorry I made yet another topic about it. but it's nice to know I'm not the only one that does it. :-)

I think this has been a problem for me too! It's not that I have a problem with it, but other people are so easily put off by it. I've had people from my former academic program quickly leave the room when they hear me talk. "Oh well, screw you!", I think silently. Other times people will sit across the room, and if this is about right, then I'm glad to talk for whatever configuration makes them comfortable if they really want to hear what I have to say. I'm not sure I will ever completely get this under control, and walking on eggshells around other people isn't really an option either.

I tend to talk too loud, especially if I have a lot to say and I'm enjoying a conversation. My mum aways tells me to stop "yawping" then I just get pissed off because she's interrupting me.
