I read an article from a long time ago that theoretically speaking, 45% with DSM IV autism would not meet the DSM 5 criteria, 75% with DSM IV Asperger's would not meet it, and 80% with DSM IV PDD-NOS would not meet it.

Has this actually happened to anyone? If so, did you keep your diagnosis or did you have to change it?

If I am recalling correctly, I think they changed it to keep that from happening. That article is from 2012 before the DSM V was published.

DSM 5 criteria

Quote:
Individuals with a well-established DSM-IV diagnosis of autistic disorder, Asperger’s disorder, or pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified should be given the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.

Okay. That makes sense.
