The subject pretty much says it all.

Camping trips don't count No one washes on camping trips!

How long have you gone without washing, showering, bathing?

By choice - because of issues with sensitivity, showers feel like little needles pricking my skin. Temperature issues as well, all my life!

Besides, it's a waste of time, boring and I've proven it to be unnecessary and a waste of time that takes you away from time better spent on your Special Interest(s)!

If anyone cares about you being unwashed, it's the other person and I don't care enough about them to care what they care about.

I'm not being selfish. I'm just affording the same courtesy that they extened to me throughout all the years I've been ignored, passed over and considered as s#it! Simply because I'm not from here. They seem to know but they can't even begin to fathom where I'm from and why I'm so different.Hello :(

The skunk effect, I call it. I use it to turn people away from me... But it doesn't seem to work. I still seem to have followers! I guess some NT's seem to like me.

I do not understand this. You are talking about how like the NT's ignore and reject you. But then say that even with the skunk effect you still have followers and they seem to like you???

This is what I wonder. I wonder if a lot of Aspies that go on about the awful NT's really are just not simply misanthropes.

There's not necessarily anything wrong with someone being a misanthrope, but maybe people should be honest with themselves.

Unlike most who post here, I have been surrounded by AS, ADS, non-NT people my whole life. They pretty much act the same way and do the same stuff socially as all the complaints I read about NT's. Now that I am in high school, one for AS, ADS, non-NT kids, it is even more prevalent.

People are people. What gets called NT behavior is just human behavior. It only seems like it's exclusive to NT's because that's who you are around the most.

Since the age of 21, I have not gone more than 2 days without without taking a shower--even when I've had the flu.

I can't go more than couple days. It's too uncomfortable. I start thinking I smell bad.

I have to wash at least every other day or I can't stand myself. I hate body smell and I'm really sensitive to it, and I hate how my hair gets, makes my scalp itch, everything itches though sometimes I think it's more psychological.

EzraS, I suppose I could be considered a misanthrope, though I don't have any followers. I just got tired of being used/ignored/etc. And yes, it's not just "the evil NT's" but the majority of humans. I have found more people on the spectrum who have the same ideals of friendship that I do, but it's rare. It's so much easier to not attach myself to anyone and just view humanity at a distance.

Well to respond to the subject in the title....I probably would not shower much if I wasn't made to. I always resist getting into the shower. I don't like to go swimming either. But....once I am in the shower, I want to say in there all day. Same with being in a pool. I guess it's just not wanting to change environments.

I just got back from a camping trip, and the place had showers onsite that were available for use. Anyway, when I'm not camping, I prefer to take a daily shower.

I tend to wash myself around every 4 or 5 days. The longest I've ever gone without washing is about 2 weeks, I'd say

I usually shower every other day but occasionally I'll go 3 or 4 days due to forgetting & being busy.

I hate the sensation of wet hair. *shudders* Hate it.
But, I also hate greasy hair lol. So I have to wash it at least every 3-4 days. On non-wash hair days, I may tie it up and still wash in the shower, OR I use a wash cloth in the sink and wash up. I don't like smelling.

Yes, it doesn't seem to make much sense, does it. When I wrote that, I was intoxicated

I've gone weeks and sometimes months without getting a shower. I've always hated showers, but I do get into the bathtub at least once a day, sometimes more as I have incontinence issues and wear pull-up diapers.
I think the longest I can recall going without any type of cleanup was back in the winter of 1997 when I was living in a fourth floor hotel suite all by myself and there was a bad blizzard outside. I was stuck in the hotel building for three to four days before things became passable outside. As I had nowhere to go I got lazy and stayed in the same clothes through the duration of the storm. Despite having steam heat, the bedroom was still drafty and the gusty winds outside chilled my room to the pointe where I even kept my socks and sandals on all the time, including in bed, as well as my hearing aids in my ears. I had no internet then, so I spent time watching off-air TV (no cable at that place either), or on my then IBM computer playing video games like Bard's Tale.
The only exception I made to hygiene those particular days was shaving, as I can't let my facial hair grow out or I'll start pulling at it. In addition I don't think I even brushed my teeth as I had my pacifier in the whole time when I wasn't eating.
