Does anyone here have an inappropriate obsession? Mine is Nazi Germany. I love it so much, and it's my dream to be one... but I wouldn't kill people. I'd just enjoy stuff.

What is yours?

I was heavily into it for a long while. I wanted to know why Hitler was extremely angry. I think the answer was because he was mad. Killing millions of people is not the answer. So eventually I dropped the interest. Sometimes we need to learn things the long & twisted way, instead of what society says about a particular man.

Now I know I was completely wrong & condemn Hitler & his top ranks for what happened. Even though the Nazi 3rd Reich seems(ed) really cool & such, they were mass murderers. They could have just as easily ramped up their military, but for defensive purposes (not offensive).

So in conclusion, Nazi Germany is NOT a good special interest to have, unless it is for pure knowledge.....not obsessing over.

I am not a fan of the third Reich but it has always fascinated me and is for that reason a special interest for a long time now.

The third Reich was and still is a kind of obsession of mine,i read and see lot of docs on the subject,
Obviously i'm not a fan,
99% of my family were slaughtered by those pigs and i'm sure that as an Autistic and a Jew the Nazis would probably kill me twice if they could.
But the appeal of fascism,it aesthetic(mainly kitsch),order ,uniformity, conformity, power, the fight to control space, Elimination of the different ... and most other subjects that were part of Nazi Germany seems to be still relevant today to some extent and there's a lesson there that i feel is very relevant to the AS hardship and existence as a minority in an NT society,
Many AS have trouble with the order, hierarchy ,conformity of the NT society and i think people don't like us and can't understand us because we are not looking to control space but to understand it so at least in my mind the AS are the Jews of the world and the NT are...

I actually enjoy using Hitler as an example to express my "spiritual" beliefs. Yes, he was nuts, but he believed he was doing god's work so imho... He would go to his own heaven because I believe we all make our own afterlives. This belief allows for acceptance of all religions.. which I like... but also allows for non-religious views, which are actually closer to what i believe.

But people don't generally respond well to my rantings on how Hitler went to heaven... :?:

I don't think obsessing about the Third Reich is inappropriate by default, as long as it is fueled by the thirst for knowledge and not the belief in the ideology.

I myself find it fascinating, but in the same way as I find religion and history in general fascinating. The strong symbolism and history is very intriguing but I don't believe or promote any of it.

*Edit* Almost forgot the answer to the question; no I don't think I have inappropriate obsessions.

Most. if not all, idiots and homicidal maniacs and perverts believe they are doing god's work, somehow i find it hard to believe that serial killers, child murderers, and women rapers are going to heaven and since the Nazis were all that and more it is quite safe to assume that Hitler afterlife is the worst hell ever.
Somehow i find it hard to believe that u can see someone who is responsible to hundreds of millions of deaths and unimaginable human suffering as going to his own heaven so i'ts very understandible why people would percieve your view on the matter as sick

The Nazi aesthetic is reflective of their ideology,
There is strong and well known link between kitsch and death and the grandiose, uniformed, infantile aesthetic of the Nazis played a great part in motivating the zombie like Germans into mass murderous society.

Why? Wishing eternal torment on anyone is utterly horrible, (and any God who'd arrange such a thing, repulsive).

Well, i don't know much about God,
Lot's of Jews lost their faith in him after the holocaust because they couldn't believe in a God who would let such horrible things as Hitler and his gang exist,
My sense of this things is quite simple
if u do bad things bad things would be done to you
My God is indifferent in that it let u choose and i'm in no way wishing eternal torment to anybody
Perhaps Hitler next life would be that of a Jew in an concentration camp which would give him the needed perspective he needs to get a better next next life

Hmm... inapproriate? I guess beheadings. I was too squeamish to watch videos or anything, but about three years ago, I went through a phase in which I was fascinated with the whole physiological process of death by decapitation.

I love their uniforms, weapons, and tanks but hate their politics. People seem to get pissed when I talk about it. I hide it by also talking about Soviet and American uniforms, weapons, and tanks. I hate the British uniforms of the time though.

I also love deadly accident videos and videoes of extreme combat. I also have an obssession with post apocalyptic movies and literature.

I had a brief fascination for Faces of Death videos, while normally the movie Beethoven would be too exiting for me to watch...

the Luftwaffe was also quite impressive, as far as science and engineering goes Germans were the best at that time though the Nazis destroyed that too
Their tanks were much better than the ones used by the allies

while serving as a tank commander i took part in some of the fiercest battles and i must admit that the aesthetic and excitement of it is like nothing else but at some point people are start to get hurt pretty bad and the whole thing become quite tiresome and very hard on the nerve
