I have read on several webpages that autistic people tend to have an "occipital bun", as seen in early hominids and some europeans still today. Now I don't have this at all... In fact i have a groove where this bun is supposed to be located and also i have a high brain case.
Does anyone here have this occipital bun? Or do you also have more of a skull as i have?
Very curious.

I had to Google image to see what that was. I don't think I do. I tried to feel but I think I'd have to look at a x-ray to tell for sure. There's a member here who is very interested in the Neanderthal perspective. Maybe he'll pop in with some info.

I have buns but they are not on the back of my head :P .

Seriously, I am not a physical anthropologist but if I am not mistaken a true occipital bun is rather large, as in neanderthal man. I don't believe I have ever seen anybody with one. I do have a small occipital "bump". This is a sign of superior intelligence, right?

I don't appear to have such.

I have the strong brow though, but that's nothing of note, as you often see it.

It is seen in Europeans sometimes, but mostly in african populations.
And no it is not a sign of superior intelligence. I would rather think the opposite.

WTF?

Just kidding of course. Occipital buns are rare these days, even amongst africans.
I dont think aspieness is a step in evolution, nor it is a leftover of neanderthals (who had enormous occipital buns).
I think it is more of a side effect of evolution.

I think today's "normal" in the thinking department is some kind of degenerative thing and "aspieness" is a bit of a reprise (recurrence) of a previously-dominant ability ... and I woke up with that thought just this morning. It would be nice to have the social skills I see in others around me, but I would hate being stuck in random-abstract thinking where I might not even be able to wish I could be an Aspie.

My very good ASish friend has a somewhat prominent bony ridge on the back of his head towards the base of his scull..but I don't know if it would be the same thing.

I didn't see it so much in the pic post. I assume the theory is b/s.
Unless maybe those who have it are different types of people with autism spectrum disorders.
