Stims and Repetitive Behavior
I have heard about various stims but what about "repetitive behavior". How does that manifest in you?
Usually when I get stressed, I make a light beat boxing noise with my mouth. I don't think it's very loud for others to hear but maybe it's more noticeable than I think. I try not to do it when others are around. In addition to that I do repetitive things on the computer. Sometimes, I re-watch a short video clips over and over that I like and it has a calming effect. When I lived alone I also watched the same movie over and over. I knew the show by heart but it provided a calming effect. Is this what is the "repetitive behavior" that is talked about with the autism diagnoses? Sometimes it take a great deal to break this behavior (so I can do something productive).
Also, when you are stress and you stim or engage in repetitive behavior are you sometimes clueless what the triggers are? I often am.... I can't pinpoint what it is.... even a professional can't really pull it out of me.
So does anyone else have these types of repetitive behaviors?
it is that, and much more. Its when you tap your fingers cause you're nervous or unaware of the outcome soon to come, anxious. Its when you bite the inside of your mouth, or the sounds you said. Its listening to the same song or seeing the same movie/clip daily or more than a few times in a row.
There are too many stims to count as so many aspies have created their own way of relaxing. I listen to the same song more than once at least twice a day, if not a couple more. I eat the same food weekly, rarely breaking routine(just not always the same time same days). Its anything that repeats more than just as a reaction but as a calming factor.

I've done other strange things. At my last job I couldn't help but squirm in my office chair. I would sit on my feet...then they would go numb. As a gift my parents bought me an expensive office chair thinking it was a comfort thing. I still did the same thing.... I would also sit backwards in it too....
I also like to repeat words/phrases that strike me unique/funny....
