Do you think women gravitate more toward software and programming, while men do better with hardware?

Of COURSE I know that this can go either way and that a man or woman could excel at both, just a random musing.

I think both men and women on the spectrum go with software and the like.

It depends really . . . if the Aspie gets more intellectually out of tactile interaction than visual, then there is hardware orientation. If its a visual preference, then programming. Ive done a bit of both and personally, they have about the same meaning to me: I like the hardware just like i would a jigsaw puzzle, looking at where the pieces go, and how things would fit together. I enjoy the programming for the sake of problem solving (knowing what rule/s to use when and where).

I like both software and hardware programming, but I think it's irrelevant to classify general medium of interest based on the gender.

Agreed. I'm very visually oriented and a programmer. Not into tactile/physical pursuits in general, including hardware.

I don't think gender really affects this so much.

I am definitely a coder even though i don't mind playing with hardware either.

I am more into hardware myself than software. With having ADHD, I find programming something to be hard to focus on. :)

I agree with alex.
