Why do people do this? As a teenager, I develop a lot of acne on my face, and I get made fun of for it. It doesn't offend me, because I know it's natural especially for my age. I am just perplexed as to what would make someone want to tease me about this.

Because they can.

Any difference will be the subject of teasing, no matter how inappropriate.

I've had acne since I was 8. I've noticed that when I was younger it was a bigger deal than it was in high school because it was more common. Everyone was afraid that I had chicken pox. The only people who really made fun of my acne after grade school were the girls who obsessed over their looks by putting on buckets of makeup, so it wasn't too bothersome.

In general, I think that people just like to pick on something that's not the ideal, whether it be acne, weight, teeth, glasses, or a big nose, just to make them feel better about themselves. The media doesn't help in this aspect with trying to make $$$ off of guilting people on how they look either.

I've never been picked on for my pimples/acne. In grade 8 someone said to me "you'll never end up finding a girl with that mole on at the side of your mouth." But I don't really care what they said.

I was made fun of, for having it, during puberty. I wanted those days to end. I haven't had to deal with acne, since I was 16.

I had the same problem...eventually it goes away. Unfortunately those people who make fun of you never do! They are mean, just be happy that you are not one of them.

ohhh man i had the worst acne ever in middle school. i mean it was SO bad. people commented on it all the time and i remember this one guy called me the walking zit. that was the worst.
i started taking accutane in 9th grade which cleared up my acne significantly. it relapsed when i went to college and my roommates who saw me without makeup would say things about me behind my back, like "her face is so red". so i started medication and now i have it under control. but yeah, i dunno, i guess people who are at least a tad bit insecure/immature will pick on someone if doing so can effectively re-charge their batteries of narcissism.

I had a lot of acne before I started taking medicine against it. I still have some, but it's not bad anymore.
I was never really teased, though. Teasers often have self-esteem issues and personal problems anyway.

The acne? or the making fun of?

I'm in my 40s and still get acne.

It is a normal thing for them to make fun of you. But sadly it still doesn't make it right. The reason why I say it is normal is because humans go through stages, it's called the adolesence stage where people haven't really matured yet (it lasts until your late 20's) people find it funny and or relieving to their own problems to make others feel pain emotionally or physically.

Exactly. I don't have much acne now but when I did, girls made fun of it...the boys didn't. I wanted to get rid of it because I didn't like how it looked and it itched, just generally uncomfortable. "Murad" acne stuff worked really well for me. It doesn't burn like proactiv, and isn't tested on animals :]

Yes, people will make fun of anything. When I was nine I got made fun of for having to wear a bra. Now I get poked fun at for not having big boobs. Haha
