Is everybody ready for Christmas?

I am. I have all of my shopping done, and my Mom and I are going to decorate the Tree, tomorrow. I have all of my Christmas CDs stacked up and ready to be played on my Discman. I'm also going to buy Roudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer on DVD when I buy a copy of the Marry Poppins one. I have my little Tree out, in my Bedroom. I only have to get something for my little Chico Puppy. I can't wait until Christmas.

You're lucky!! I'm stuck at college, hundreds of miles away from home so it doesn't feel like christmas at all where I am. I think I am too preoccupied with exams to even think about it!!

I have all my presents bought too though, I usually get them early to avoid the crowds that are around at this time of year. They really stress me out. I can't wait to go home and see the tree too.

What kind of dog do you have?

Do you think they will ever move Christmas to Jesus' actual birthday in April? Christmas is fun and all but it seems odd to keep celebrating the Roman holiday of Saturnalis. Other than that, I have only gotten one thing myself and parents have gotten other stuff for me to give out. Kind running low on the financial spectrum anyway. I made good gifts before, apparent very good, for some reason some of them actually cried tears of Joy, or something like that, I suppose. I spent alot of time on each gift I did, from a couple days to two weeks. It seemed to be the most enjoyed gifts I ever gave out.

I don't mean to spoil your fun, it's just that I find this a great piece of satire...

I will be done with my semester at 9:30am thursday morning.

I then have to do the following things

- Refund my books
- Turn in my research paper for english class
- Go eat lunch
- Pack everything up
- Check out with my floor boos
- Drive home 70 miles
- Unpack
- Be at work sometime around 3pm

Actually, Jesus birthday has been assigned to just about every month on the calendar at one point or another, by some method of reckoning or another. Officially, the feast day was set as December 25 precisely to offer an alternative to Saturnalia, "birth of the invincible sun." As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't matter when Christmas is celebrated. THAT it's celebrated is what counts.

I'm getting ugly here because there is a constant string of piss storms as I call them. IT'S SUPPOSED TO SNOW HERE IN DECEMBER!! !! I have my collection of 6 classic snowmobiles that are all shined up, running better than alot of new sleds and they have nowhere to go!! The ski hills are making snow when they can and then the rain is pissing on them. I am going to be so happy when I move out to Alberta near the ROCKIES!! !

I get ugly when it rains in December here, I don't even turn the Christmas lights on. I have to go out Friday and pick some friends up from university 200 miles from here. We'll be partying a little bit so that might bring up the spirit level again. So far, it's not there yet and hearing the same songs played in 20 different ways day after day is beginning to drive me batty!

why "is it odd" to celebrate Saturnalia, epimonandas? i do. i celebrate Winter Solstice or Yule rather than christmas, but then i'd celebrate Diwali and Hannukah as well, given half the chance - it's great to celebrate any festival in any of the spiritual paths, as a sign of respect and, of course, as an excuse for celebrating.

my birthday is 3 days after christmas, however, which puts a bit of a crimp in things - i do get fed up with getting a present to celebrate someone else's birthday instead of mine...

I'll be happy if it doesn't start snowing till Christmas Day here, I want to be able to go home to hubby for the first time since Oct. 17th, we haven't seen each other since then. I've been up with the boys at my parents all this time dealing with appts. at the children's hospital for Dylan and for me as well. Staying with my parents is ok for a couple of weeks, past that I can't take it anymore. Two months here has been way too much unfortunately. Hubby works 6 days a week running his father's computer sales & service store and ISP so he hasn't really gotten up here to visit me and the boys at all as it's several hours drive here to where my parents live and back. While I don't mind the holiday season, it is so draining at times on my energy level and my getting overloaded from having to go into crowded stores with two overwhelmed kids. It's a recipe for a headache. With the way the gas prices are, it costs so much to drive anywhere here so even shopping is limited. In some ways it makes me glad I don't have a car myself or drive.

Im not ready quite yet.

You know, from what I hear, much of the modern christmas (buying presents, trees etc) was forced amongst us by capitalists who wanted us to spend more money than we usually would. Just think - whenever you buy a present, you're playing right into the hands of the huge corporate machine.

Still great fun though .
