This is something I noticed about myself a long time ago: when I'm really concentrating on something, like reading an interesting book aloud (I usually read aloud), I tend to rock back and forth involuntarily, like in a trance. Also happens when I'm brushing my teeth. At first I remember stopping whenever I noticed that I was doing that, but now I don't, at least when there's no other people around. Does this ever happen to you? I mean, this kind of involuntary stimming when you're concentrating?

I only do such things when I am not focussed. For me reading or doing something focussed is a way of escaping the contstant tics and motion... But I am an oddball 8)

My stimming is so random that its not even funny... stress, concentration, boredom, calming myself down, the list goes on.

I also tend to stim when I'm really focused on something. Usually jaw movements.

I tend to stim while I'm using my imagination. I get lost in fantasies for hours every day while flapping my hands and/or pacing in my room.

I find myself tracing the figure 8 over again with my finger, and it helps me to concentrate, with my thoughts. I do it in such a discrete way, that I'm the only one who knows that I'm doing it.

I pace and do weird whole body twisty thing when nervous or bored. When I'm really stressed I rock, but not really when I am concentrating.

Yes. When I'm reading I tend to rub my eyebrow over and over again without even knowing that I'm doing it. & when I'm watching TV I sometimes start swaying if I'm sitting on my knees. My family always comment on it and mock me about it.

Concentration -
handkerchief in mouth, left knee bouncing up and down, semi=whistling through my teeth.

Rocking is MORE likely if I am emotionally stressed, thinking witrh pain instead of focussing on my speciality. But not that uncommon with straight concentration.

The precise mix depends a lot on what kind of chair I am in and how many peple are near enough for me to be aware of their watching.
