In this video (sorry to people who don't have high speed/broadband internet) the woman seems to be saying autistic people are right brain dominant.... but in my short time on this board I have encountered many who seem to be highly left brain dominant. I am curious how many people here think they are right or left brain dominant.

I also feel I have made some incredible discoveries because of my right brain asperger's syndrome.... it makes me wonder if there is some truth to what she says in the video about people with autism having special abilities.

I took an online test for that once--the two sides were about equal, with slightly more dominance on the left (by about 1 or 2 percent).

Thanks for the response... In my case I am extreme right brain dominant... but I don't know if this has to do with my executive function issues. Or maybe executive function processes are tied to left brain dominance?

Temple Grandin also said aspies can't learn algebra. Math is a language and I was terrible with grammar and algebra and I have always hated writing assignments.

Here is another great video about right/left brain dominance. It's about a woman who had a stroke and it cut off the left hemisphere of her brain. She got to see the world through one half completely.

according to almost every test i did on this subject, i am down the middle in brain dominance, moving left/right by some 5-10% depending on my mood and mental state...

Loved algebra, not so good at geometry.

I like writing if I find the topic interesting. I know what you mean by languages, though--I took as much French as I had to in high school and then stopped. Too stressful.

What kind of activities do you enjoy?

I love visual stuff... and creating things - designing, inventing and sculpting. I have non stop ideas constantly and love learning how everything works. I am also really good at piecing things together. Like connection information that most people don't - intuitive. All of things are known as right brain dominant things.

Supposedly memory is tied to left brain function... I think this is why I struggle with languages and arbitrary rules. Same issue with math.

It's crazy though because in other things my memory is very good... like I will remember these odd connections with things in discoveries I feel I make... it seems I have no control over it though.

I would say I am in between right brained and left brained. I like to be creative, but I am also a fan of science.

Any time I've taken a quiz, it's been balanced between the two.

I am a bit of both. But it depends on the situation...

I am left brain dominant when solving problems, working at school, and doing tasks. I hate vagueness and love logic, concrete information, and I find it easy to work with numbers and to collect ideas together.
I am right brain dominant in my free time sometimes, when I'm drawing on my computer, writing poems and stories. I like to express my creativity, and I like to use my imagination.

Generally, though, if I have to pick one, I'd say I was left brain dominant, probably because I use my logic more than my imagination. I took an online test and it said I was left brained, but just by a titch.

If any of you want to check:

There are many others (just look up "brain dominance test").

Yeah according to tests, I am highly dominantly left brained.

This form tests stand out for me...

Left brain dominant individuals are more orderly, literal, articulate, and to the point. They are good at understanding directions and anything that is explicit and logical. They can have trouble comprehending emotions and abstract concepts, they can feel lost when things are not clear, doubting anything that is not stated and proven.
