Does this happen to anyone else?

I think of something to type and I type it . And I check if anything is misspelled and it's not. Than I submit whatever I need to say into where I putting it: email, IM, post. Than I re-read or whenever I re-read I find that I put a whole other word than what I wanted I just did that. I wanted to say close and I said clothes. I don't only do this with typing, I do it with speaking as well.

Just wondering if anyone else does it too.

I personally don't do that. However, based on what I've read, I'm not surprised that you are doing it. No, I don't think you are alone.

When I am listening to something, I type a word from what I am listening to instead of what I want on accident.

yes, all the time. sometimes i accidentally skip words altogether. i don't know about you, but i also misread certain words/phrases and mistake them for something completely different.
like i'll think the word "altogether" says "algorithm", and so on.

I do that, more with speaking than with typing. For example, sometimes I'll say "cold" when I mean to say "code". I think my mind leads me to overpronounce things, if that makes any sense.

This happens to me often. I type and put in a word that has the same sound as the word I want to type, but is the wrong word. I don't realize I do this, and its not a typo as such, because I do spell the word correctly; its just the wrong word, albeit one with the same pronunciation. Its like there is a disconnect between my thoughts and the part that types my thoughts into the computer. Its like the connection is based on the sound of words and not the word itself.

I do this routinely with they're/their/there. I have to edit every post to make sure I put in the right one.

When speaking, I'll sometimes take a word from a previous sentence and put it inappriately in the next sentence if there (their, they're) is any overlap in words between the two sentences. (Got that? )

Example: (said to my confused husband)

"I'm washing this spinach for a salad. I also started some laundry. Could you take the spinach out of the washer and put it in the dryer?"

I do that, more often with speech than text. My most recent mistake was putting "seconds" instead of "sevenths" in the notes to a piece that I composed. To be fair to myself, they are inversions of each other, and most of my errors consist of using words that are similar in some way- sound or meaning- to the one which I intended.

Yeah! I do this alllll the time in speaking and writing. It's a sound thing I think, because for example, I'll start to type the word guide as guy...de.

I've done that, 10 years ago, when I typed my first article for the clubhouse Grapevine. It was a disaster. The thing is that the newsletter already came out, when I've spotted the mistake. It took me two months, to forgive myself.

I don't but I don't breathe while typing something I have in mind. I actually pause my typing for about a second to breathe (because I can't breathe and type at the same time, it seems).

It happens to me all the time...not just one word, but even phrases. I find it very annoying! When speaking, I often say the wrong word or term than the one I wanted to use.

I have it with phrases and words, and do it speaking and writing/typing. Thanks for the replies. Glad I am not alone.
