I have no idea if it's related to autism at all but I constantly bump into things and walk into doorframes when trying to go through doors. I can clearly see the doorway and the path i have to take to get through it but somehow still end up bumping into the frame :?

I also can't seem to walk in a straight line and if I'm walking alongside someone i veer away and towards them rather than just walking along normal in the same way as them. Once walking along a train platform the person with me said they thought i was about to fall on the tracks  .
Other people have expressed concern that I'm about to walk into a wall lol even though I had in my mind that a wall was infront of me and knew to move to avoid it. Perhaps i just manoeuvred around it awkwardly. This happens with other objects in my path too- it's like my mind acknowledges them but my body doesn't give two hoots and just carries on doing it's own thing.

I'm also convinced that I do that awkward dancing from side to side with an oncoming person in the street far more than your average joe

Does anyone else experience things like these or know if they're related to autism??

I don't walk straight into the wall, but I do bump into the door frame. A lot.

Yeah, door frames for me as well, either my arm gets caught or my knee. And the corners of counters, tables...anything with an edge. It's weird because I have great depth perception when I'm driving/parking a car, but can't navigate my own body around things to save my life.

Yeah, I walk into things all the time. And that's part of why I get nervous when someone is walking toward me or when I'm walking in crowds is that I don't want to touch the people but I don't have excellent control of where my body is in space.

Look up "proprioception" or "proprioceptive sense" for more information on this issue and how it relates to autism.

I've always had problems with bumping into walls; sometimes I even catch myself apologizing to them.

That has to do with mindblindness. If you can't read someone's body language very well, how are you supposed to know if they're going to go around you to the right or to the left? Makes crowds hellish.

that's reassuringing to know because i was worried that it would happen when i drive too (i have a licence but haven't driven much alone). but yes, my legs are constantly bruised. those dastardly tables:(

thanks:). It's nearly 3am here but I'll definitely look into it tomorrow when I'm more awake. It's strange to know that something i've always thought was just me being stupid actually has a big fancy name though:D

Oh and jetlag, I'm constantly apologising to inanimate objects. then quickly checking no-one saw 8)

I bump into things all the time including people. I have the very bad habit of bumping into people by stepping back.wards.

I always veer to the right. My head tilts that way too. Must be right brained. :)

I turn corners VERY badly.

It helps me to put my hand out when I get near a corner or potentially dangerous object (which can be a lot of "innocent" objects). If I actually have my hand on it, I'm less likely to gauge it wrong...not to mention if I do lose my balance, I'm already half-poised to catch myself.

Been there done that.. I live in my own world, solving problems, reflecting. Too busy to pay attention to the world around me and the people in it.
