Are there any counter-petitions yet?

Moderator note: Ken G posted this morning that the appointment has been confirmed, so the petition against it is now, thankfully, a mute point. http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt129751.html

These people never cease to make me furious!

Yeah, we cant have people knowing that Autistics can do anything! Otherwise the whole cure idea might look bad.

Since the National Council on Disability doesn't deal with funding genetic research, their complaints are pretty much moot or pure resentment.

I'm not sure if it would be approperiate for a Canadian such as myself to start (or even sign) a petition supporting Ne'eman, but somebody should.

If I could get a hold of the right software for a really cheap price, I'd start a petition.

It really ticks me off that people continue to mistake "learning to pass in a neurotypical world" for "recovery from autism." I'm glad only 2 people have signed that petition.

It has 2 signatures. When was this started?

It's not like Obama is going to listen to anybody's advice or opinions when he makes decisions anyway.

Ari supports cutting off all Autism Funding, and just accepting people as they are.

This fits Obama's agenda,

Those who can make it will, those who need lifetime care will provide jobs, government jobs.

So given the choice between giving away money to research, or building more prisons, the kick backs and patronage are in prisons.

The Health Care will provide tax payer funds for treatment, so the government is off the hook, and has a long term jobs program, also tax payer funded.

Research and treatments might keep one in five out of lifetime care, which is 20% of the income potential for private and government services.

Government jobs and contracts are the payoffs that both political machines use to gain more power.

It is not like the National Council on Disability ever did anything, they exist so the government can send complaints there. They have no power and do not grant funds.

Autism Speaks will continue funding research. The National Institute of Mental Health will continue matching grants.

Ari has been called a Master Networker, a political player, and ASAN was created to play ACORN to Obama's goals.

He claims to be autistic, claims to be a leader of autistics, and also claims that they should just be left alone. He wants to cut off all funds and go for acceptance.

Politically he is like Republicans who want to end unemployment, because the unemployed are just lazy.

The autistic can do anything if they work at it, look at Ari! They just need to quit complaining and get to work.

The problem of Autism has been solved.

Compare that petition with this one.

2272 signatures vs. 2! Ours is better, ya Nazis!

The good thing about the anti-Ari petition is that it gives you the names of the biggoted people against Autism. Perhaps if they got several thousand letters sent to their homes explaining how wrong their thinking is it might change their mind. Even if it is only two signatures.

Wait...WHAT???????

Is he referring to school-based interventions too, like speech therapy and physical therapy?

Ken G posted this morning that the appointment has been confirmed, so the petition against it is now, thankfully, a mute point. http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt129751.html

Even if this wasen't the case, I wouldn't worry too much about something with 2 signatures
