I'cve never been pregnant but birth control pills drove me nuts. I was definitely more Aspie while I was on them. Not saying Aspies are nuts but I personally was very moody, had meltdowns, and ruined a relationship. I was very antisocial and wouldn't hang out with any of my boyfriend's friends, partially because of extreme anxiety but also because I just became an ego maniac. I was just a very amplified version of myself and I was SHOWING all of my worst traits to people, something I am usually good at controlling. I felt better once I stopped taking it, probably took about a month, maybe longer.

I'm sure with pregnancy it's different, much higher hormone levels, also post partum depression. I never really understood how much hormones can affect people until I got into my 20's. I'm sure pregnancy could affect ASD traits to a great extent, unfortunately there isn't a lot of research about most things regarding ASDs and how they affect adults out there.

I was actually more affectionate and loving and more emotional so I was able to express myself better. Now I don't crave my husband anymore. I've been more tired and I lost interest in my own obsessions and even the aspie forums so I was here less. I seem to be more NT when pregnant. Then I was driving my husband crazy with wanting him, first I preferred being alone and have no company and then all of a sudden I wanted him and he wasn't used to it he said.

I was very calm, happy, and centered when I was pregnant. It was one of the best times in my entire life.

My moods were actually better when I was pregnant, the only thing that bothered me about it (aside from being put on bedrest from 7 months on) was when my son started moving and kicking. The sensation freaked me out, I can't really even put it into words, lol! It felt alien to me. My big problem emotionally was after I had him, I had post-partum psychosis.

Every woman is different though, you may not have any problems at all during and after. :)
Just take it day by day, and if you feel your moods start to go down too much, talk to your doctor.

My midwife had me eat my placenta (I froze it and put it in a strawberry orange smoothie so I couldn't taste or see it) because she said it prevented post-partum depression/psychosis. I don't know if it works or not, but I was extremely even-keel afterwards, despite my daughter being stillborn.

Totally couldn't taste it or see it. And I trusted my midwife because she had come out with some strange sounding stuff before and it worked amazingly well. Plus she had a bachelor's in biochemistry so when she would tell me to eat something or not eat something, often she'd include a scientific explanation, complete with chemical equations.

I can never eat my own placenta.

I'm guessing you won't eat liver or steak, either.

I eat steak.

That's pretty gross. I'd rather eat clean organ meat from my own body where I know what has gone into it than steak full of hormones and chemicals and nasty feedlot garbage and then put through a slaughterhouse where all meat gets contaminated.

It was a miracle that I got pregnant at all. I was thought to be barren and had years of unprotected sex before I was surprised by pregnancy. That was my once-in-a-lifetime chance and I've never been able to get pregnant since. And now I'm edging into menopause, so that's it.
