No, your neurology makes you AS. The behavior (and thoughts) are just observable markers of the neurology that makes up the autistic brain.
You're right, although - funnily enough - I was thinking of your post on another thread about the DSM being based on behaviour, not on mental states (e.g. DSM-V mentioning sensory behaviour rather than sensory overload).
The word "makes" is also ambiguous: it can mean "causes" in the scientific sense, or it can mean something more like "indicates". In the latter case, the OP would be right in saying that certain thoughts "make" you autistic in the same way that having little red dots all over your skin "makes" you a rubella or rubeola victim.
So ... thoughts ... behaviour ... neurology ... genetics. Each "makes" you autistic in different ways.
