I relate so much to this episode of Invader Zim. Espically the part where Zim thinks his cover will be blown because he dosen't have any friends. I always wondered what all the hubabaloo about friendship was and still do. I wouldn't be surprized if the creator announced he had an AS diagnosis. I'm not saying he does but it wouldn't surprize me if he did. Anyway I could always relate to this eppisode. If anyone in vet school tries to make friends with me, I can see myself runing away screaming like the kid at 1:56. I can relate to Zim so much in this eppisode.

I can also really relate to this. As a kid, I was made to feel like a criminal or at least a very peculiar person because I didn't have many friends.

Heh. You guys were more aware than me... I didn't realize you were supposed to have friends until I was getting into middle school. Fifth grade, I tried it and found I didn't like it, then went back to my books.

I'm just starting to realize that one can form relationships now. I'm still an ultra-introverted person, but I've been voluntarily making social contact with people this year for the first time in my life. I'm twenty-seven.

Reminds me of my childhood. I didn't have many friends when I was younger, and the ones I did make tended to leave.

That video reminds me of how I felt, as a child. I didn't have very many friends, and I felt that I was very odd. I remember me crying to my mum, early in the morning, telling her, that I wanted a friend. She'd point at my over-sized Lego truck, with the man, and she said, "You do have a friend. He's right here." That caused a lot of trouble for me, in the Summer of 1997, when I was telling the people at my factory job, that I know that Austin Powers isn't real, but he's my friend.

Never seen Invader Zim before, but that is AWESOME--especially how creepy and surreal all the social behavior becomes when Zim realizes how he's different. It's like watching a gaggle of women, except worse. I did have a few friends (that is, in some schools)--but the behavior of the popular kids was massively creepy to watch.

And the pea meltdown...all I can say about peas is...pretty much what he said.

I have every episode on DVD and that's where my avatar came from. If you like creepy and surreal there are plenty of episodes you'd like.

I never had this problem really until later into my life. I had Jason, Brian, Nathan, Johnathan, John, Billy, Stephen and all sorts of friends I don't even remember in elementary school. Though quite a few I quit being friends with during that time. I only stopped having friends in high school and that because I decided I didn't want to be noticed. However this was part of my diagnosis for some reason lol.

I'd have to take it in small doses, I think...I like it, but I've learned I have to be careful about how much I allow myself to take in and at what time of the day.

I have cat and a bearded dragon. That's all the company I need. I never really wanted friends even as a a kid and thought it was weird to want them. I just wanted "friends" to lecture too about my special intrests and who would let me boss them around. People who did not want to dicuss meerkats or be dictated, I had nothing to do with. I truely have NEVER expirenced lonliness. As a kid, when phycologists asked about my friends I would reply, "I have my stuffed animals, I do not need anyone!" and they all thought it was a symptom of a severe phycological illness or something that at least needed to be corrected because it wasn't "normal". They should do an eppisode where Zim is sent to a phycatrist who tries to make him normal but Zim eventualy drives the phycatrist to insanity and at the ending of the eppisode, the phycatrist is seen sitting in a padded cell with a straight jacket on.
