...we know?

I mean, what is general knowledge. What's the difference between ourselves and NTs in this respect?

We don't talk about things we really don't know anything about and they do? :)
I try to learn as much about anything I encounter as I can BUT
I think most people consider general knowledge to be all the fluffy nothing knowledge like the latest news on Charlie Sheen, Brittany Spiers, or sports. I've yet to get myself to care enough to have more than passing knowledge of such things.

It's all about how we focus our thoughts. We look to the specific, whereas NTs are more general. We'll talk about narrowly focused and defined subjects. They will talk about common happenings in life that most people can relate to...family, situations with friends, current events, stuff they go through throughout the day. The key to breaking this is to search for common circumstances between you an the other person, and thoroughout the day, look for happenings in your world that you can bring up later.

This misdiagnosis caused me significant stress, which lessened upon finding out the truth about myself from my current and past long-term therapists - that I am an anxious and highly sensitive person but do not have an autism spectrum disorder.

My diagnoses - social anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

I’m no longer involved with the ASD world.

Oops, I thought lack of general knowledge meant a lack of knowledge about historical events or something. I was looking at it too specifically.

I thought it meant that caked-up carbon matter on cooking trays would equal mold in enough time. As in, mold is bad and stuff. I guess "common knowledge" is relative.

How to eat when there's no supermarkets.

How to officiate an ad hoc wedding.

How to cut your own hair.

How to impress a business client.

It all depends on what's useful to you really, innit?

Take your typical NT: You can say that their special interest is people. All you need to do is go to a coffee shop and eavesdrop on their conversations. They are talking about other people for most of the time, much the same way aspies talk about special interests. One can also say that the average NT probably has limited knowledge of things outside of their special interest. What I'm trying to say is that it's all relative. Most stereotypical NTs are inept when it comes to stereotypical aspie interests, but aspies are generally socially inept even though they may be very fluent in their chosen interest. If you define general knowledge as being socially skilled, then your average aspie probably lack general knowledge. However general knowledge is a really ambiguous term.

I can talk about general things but prefer talking if there's a point to it. I think I should listen to more conversations by NTs.
