This is not the same discussion as the other thread I had created about my other urges.

Anyway, every now and then I get urges to do things like move my head back and forth kinda fast also occasionally, when I driving, I I get the urge to yank the steering where left or right but I don't. What I do is a move my hand without moving the steering wheel.

I'm also sensitive to some touch like if I touch something to lightly, I got to touch it harder or scratch at that spot if I don't it'll bother me.

So basically it's an urge to move a part of my body, I guess it's the the same as when autistic kids flap their arms up and down. When I was in The Learning Center which was a classroom in my school for special needs kids, some of them who were further up on the autism scale then I am, would shake their hands, flap their arms or rock back and forth. I guess I get the sane thing, but a little differently. If I ignore it, it'll go away but it's annoying when I get it, and it's hard to resist it.

Anyone know why this is? I had other urges like this before but I eventually quite doing them, some of them went away.

Isn't that when you become obsessed with things. And yes, I have that. But I don't think that's the answer.

I have to do certain things as the certain times and I get bothered until I do them. I think that's OCD, or maybe it's my aspergers.

An Autistic 'stim' is a repetitive nearly constant whole body movement: rocking, swaying, flapping that is done unconsciously and automatically to diffuse anxiety. Its not a momentary 'urge'. Lots of people call hair twirling, nail biting and common fidgets like that stims, but those are not related to Autism. They may be self-stimulating in a technical sense, but even most neurotypical folk have fidgets they engage in when they're bored.

This might or might not be related, but I get urges to gamble. Last night, my best friend and I, went to the bar. I bought myself 40 pull tabs, to have fun with. Stupid, I know. I've only won $6 back out of $20. Urges can mean anything to anybody.

I just posted about this yesterday, if you consider voluntary eye and nose twitches to be in the same category of urges. Talking about the steering wheel, come to think of it, I do tend to sort of push in certain directions on it. Like, I'll push forward, or to the side, but in such a way that doesn't actually turn the wheel. I think I might actually do this a lot, where I'll do an unnecessary push on something that I know will resist it, or won't interfere with normal operation. I'd never really thought about it, but I'll keep an eye out for it.

I do things like that. I definitely think they are tics.

I have the same thing. I usually try not to do them when people are around, but like you said it's hard to resist.

Thankfully I don't get them too often.

I wear glasses and I think (hope) it's pretty common for those who wear them but I have to push them further up my nose way too often. I've been told it looks dorky, but I want them in one particular place. I sort of smash the bridge of them into my face at times..
Sometimes I get the irrepressible urge to put some kind of pressure on my head and I have no idea why. I just have to push inward on my skull with both hands as if it is going to fall apart or something.
