I just joined today and thought I would find some post to say hi and get the ball rolling for other questions and comments down the road.

So I thought I would open things up by asking a question that probably would be uncomfortable in any other social arena.

What, if you have one, is your piece of comfort. When things start getting bad for you, what do you grab to calm down or just feel better?

Mine would be my comfy blanket for when I am home or when I am out and about it would be my wool jacket. It's just nice to have something comfy and warm to wrap around you when you're feeling stressed.

Of course it being summer I don't really wear my wool coat out and about...

I am never really sure if I make sense when I type these things out, so hopefully I do make sense... Kind of like talking to people, I am never sure if I am making sense or getting my point across...

Hey! This is the first reply to your first post!

I don't really have a "thing". I listen to classical music to calm down.

Or I pick my nose, but that is embarassing and impolite to admit to in mixed company.

Welcome to WP!

I used to have a hoodie I called my woobie and wore it all the time. Nowadays I feel better from lying in the backyard and watching the clouds pass by for a few minutes.

Hi, and welcome to RightPlanet :)

To 'recharge my batteries,' I normally spend some time alone, preferably in a quiet place where there aren't many stimuli. If I have access to music, then that's an even bigger bonus. I don't have any specific objects that help calm me down.

I have a backpack which contains useful supplies which I always keep with me. I just switched backpacks pretty painlessly, with the old one getting worn; so it's not the backpack, really, it's the way I like to be prepared for things. Unexpected events really throw me off, to the point that I can shut down, and needless to say I like to plan for as many as possible. It's helped other people, too, when I had just the thing they needed in my backpack. Currently I have no more than five pounds of supplies at any given time, so as to make room for textbooks.

But if I get upset enough, the only cure is to get somewhere alone and lie down.
