I like Derren Brown. Even though not all his stuff works on me, he's still a BRAIN HACKER. I like the way he uses his knowledge of the art of suggestion and manipulation to expose frauds like faith healers and psychics.

Was the really obvious bearded man walking in from the left of the screen supposed to be subliminal? The minute he appeared on screen my attention was drawn straight to him. I find it hard to understand that anyone of any neurological disposition was somehow fooled by this 'trick'.

Usually Derren Brown's 'brain-hacking' (nice phrase by the way) is much more impressive than this sleight of heavy-hand.

"Service not available in your area..."

What is up with that? Twelve years online, and I've never seen a message like that before. Oh well.

Stupid media regulations. USA people can't view UK iplayer either. The internet is getting regulated.

He completely took my attention away from DB. When the images appeared on screen together I automatically found myself looking for his face among them because I expected to find it.

I'm in the US. It's the site itself blocking the video transmission only. I can access the site, just not the video.

:P Yeah. Same here. UK iplayer website fine, but iplayer does the same thing to me. It's always a shame when all my UK buddies are chatting away about something I can't view on iplayer, but they can.

I managed to find some other vids of him. All I can say is, "No please! Not this stuff again!"

This guy, and how many others, that pull this stuff on camera just bore me. Film enough of those kind of interactions, and sooner or later you're going to get someone preoccupied just enough to pull it off. How many people don't fall for this stuff that are never shown?

What about the home audience? Simple. The odds are in his favor. All he needs is a big enough audience, and somebody is going to either believe or fall for it at home too.

This is what I get (every time I click the link):

Quote:
The bad news? That page is not available at the moment. Please try again later.

But www/channel4.com opens fine, and if you do a search for the guy, you get some links to the clips, and one of them is about mind control, and when I click it, I just get the same message. Doesn't look like censorship - though I can't be sure.

Personally I quite like magicians, and I thought he was doing society a service when he demonstrated that he could infiltrate faith healing churches etc. by using non-supernatural conjuring tricks. I particularly appreciated his observation that nobody except one Pentecostal minister seemed to give a damn whether his stuff was fake or not, and how easy it was for him to dupe his way into these things.
