It's scheduled in a couple months. What do you think it'll be like?

I hope that things go well, throughout the screening

They may just do a lot of talking. Go ahead and drop the "playing NT" facade, and let them know your actual problems instead of pretending everything's OK like you probably usually do. If you can drag your parents to the interview, do it. They know most about you when you were very small--before the age of four--and autism has to be present from early on to be diagnosed as autism.

If they don't just do an interview, they'll probably do neuropsych testing. This isn't generally too tough; the instructions for the tests will be relatively easy to grasp (it's usually just one or two steps), and the tasks tend to be pretty straightforward. Sometimes you'll get a task that's just ridiculously difficult; that's OK, they're just testing something where you happen to have a weakness. You're not meant to do perfectly on the tasks (if you do, that's called hitting a ceiling and it means the test is too easy--that happens routinely when they evaluate college students with academic achievement tests that just go through high school). A lot of them will just get harder until you can't do them anymore, at which point you stop. They're not really that much of a big deal; but don't hesitate to ask for a break if you get tired, because you're going to be thinking pretty hard.

I took mine on August 6th. They found I had Aspergers. They gave me several tests. I took at least three math tests, one reading comprehension, several memory tests, I had to recreate several patterns with blocks, I think the doctor kept me talking to pick up on my speech patterns, he tried to make eye contact with me several times, he asked me about my special intrests and had to cut me off mid way LoL. There was a manual dexterity test. They also gave me a 370 question questionaire that picked up on your personality. I was also given a test for my mother to fill out which questioned her about my ability to live on my own I guess. When I came back for my follow up visit they gave me copies of my test results and a the phone number of a psychologist that deals with spectrum disorders. Hope this helps, good luck. I have jpgs of my test results if you want to see what they look like, I already removed my name from the results.
