I observe people and I'm shocked how many of them like to avoid cleaning whole body, teeth or hands. I wash myself every day and I can't imagine going to bed without washing. They're happy if they can go dirty. They probably find washing horrible duty.

I don't understand this. Maybe you know why people like to be dirty?

 I've never been able to understand why anybody wants to be a slob.

I shower once in the morning, then work out in the evening and shower again.

Sex is way too much fun to do anything that would make people want to avoid me. :P

The AS does a good enough job of that already. :?

I shower and wash my clothes for the sake of other people. For myself, I couldn't care less. It's a burdensome chore.

Ironically I have read that some aspies don't shower or bath because they don't see the point in keeping neat if they don't care how they look. I have also read that some don't even think about doing it so they forget.

in the depths of my down-in-the-dumps, i would fail to see the need for such as there would be nobody else around to be offended by my funkiness, so i would go for days without washing or sometimes even eating. but eventually i would be repelled by my own stink and that would force me into the shower to wash all the gunk off. but i would never be around other people in my stinky state.

I'm not so sure it always has anything to do with "wanting" to be that way. I think more often than not people who are, really aren't aware of how offensive they are, or (sometimes) don't possess the capacity to understand.

That's one thing, that I will never understand. I've come acrossed a lot of dirty people, in my lifetime, and it just boggles my mind. Do they realize how gross it is?

I forget to take showers because I am too absorbed in my special interests. I don't brush my teeth because toothpaste burns my mouth and lips and the taste and smell make me sick. Most shampoo scents make me sick, the only one that doesn't (Jason's tee tree oil) doesn't work that well or so my mom claims. My hair used to be so tangled, I practically had dreadlocks but it was because the sensation of a brush hurt and I was so uncoordinated I couldn't use the brush properly. I couldn't hold a lot of things properly and according to one shrink, I was basically ret*d.

I try to be clean if I'm out in public. But I don't mind going to bed without washing. Now they say childhood allergies can be connected to exposing the whole skin surface of the child with water and soap too often.

There needs to be balance.

Hmmm.
Me I keep myself reasonably clean and tidy, because I understand you need to be clean and tidy to fit in with the generally accepted standards of others. But honestly, I think modern Western society has become far too pedantic about hygeine - which is one theory about why there are so many cases of autoimmune diseases (which of course can kill you) in the "developed" world and hardly any in the "developing" world. You don't have to sterilize yourself with Detol every time you handle anything. Personally, I don't need to shower every day. Unless I'm working out, running or weightlifting or something, I don't sweat enough to merit wasting all that water (yes, many Aussies are hung up about water usage) just because you're "supposed" to shower every day. It's easier on the environment if you don't - wasting water, introducing toxins into the water supply by shampoos and soaps, etc. I simply don't require it, and I don't smell or look dirty. I only wash my clothing when it's dirty, not just because I've worn it. Again, I see it as a waste of water and polluting the water supply with laundry powder, softener, etc.

I don't enjoy being dirty, but many times I'm too enveloped in my interests to really care about how dirty I am, so I don't bother to clean up. I'm the complete opposite of how germophobic I was before I started taking medication for my OCD.

I'm very clean and bathe head to toe before going to bed. I floss my teeth once or twice a day, use crazy mouthwashes, keep my nail trimmed - you name it. Some of it's OCD, like the handwashing, but mostly it's just me being very particular.

i do not perspire to a normal degree.
that is good and bad.

i do not have to wash because of bodily exudates. i have to wash because the dirt from the day that i experience is not welcome to come to bed with me.

i have to touch things like rails and buttons and rungs in public every day, and i am aware that other dirty people have also touched the same things that i have touched, and so i feel dirty because of that reason.

i must wash before going to bed because i do not want to slip between my sheets with any remnant of the general public on my body.

i have gone to our property in far western new south wales for eight weeks once, and there is no running water there because there is only a disused shearers shack that is available to sleep in.
i went by myself because i had to check the fences on the property which is 24000 hectares.
in that whole time i did not wash, and i was just as clean when i got home to sydney as i was before i left.

i do not sweat, and my skin is always dry (not flakey but just devoid of clamminess). even when i fixed some spots in the fence that needed to be repaired on a hot day, i did not get moist under my arms or any where else. i also never get moist feet, and my shoes smell of only leather even after 2 years of wearing.

this is good as far as i am concerned however it has some drawbacks.

one drawback is that my core temperature is very fragile, and i can overheat easily.
i must stop my activities when i feel a flushing heat crawl around my forehead. i can not work too hard for too long in the heat because i will overheat and that would be a medical emergency.

an advantage is that i rarely feel cold even when the temperature is very low (like 2-3 degrees C).
another advantage is that i have no bodily smell at all, even after a hot days activities.

anther disadvantage may be that if i have any pheremones at all, they will not be aromatically distributed because i do not have the carrier of evaporating sweat to disperse them.

(i do not really care about that disadvantage because i do not want to attract people to be aroused by me anyway).

but when i am in a city where humans also are, i am aware that door handles that i have to touch have been touched by filthy sweaty strange hands, and i am aware that people's smoke may taint my hair, and i know that if i excur into the public then i will inevitably be exposed to the filth that humans deposit on the things i have to touch. coughing sneezing humans, dirty sweaty humans, humans who have wiped their bottoms and not sanitized their hands have all touched the handles of the shopping trolleys i use when i go to the supermarket.

i must wash myself every evening before i can go to bed because the places i go have been frequented by dirty people. i do not like showers, but they are a necessary evil.
