Christmas is just a commercialised version of a holiday.

I love Christmas, although I find that the older I get the less magical it feels. I'm starting to feel that way about summertime too.

The only thing that I like about Christmas, is the fact that it's the Birthday of Jesus Christ. The Ho ho ho, overcommercialism, and big family get togethers in a room, with a bunch of Athiests and nymphomaniacs, is what sort of left a bad taste in my innocent mouth, last year. Mick Avory is staying out of the building, this year. I'd rather stay at my parent's trailer and babysit my dog, Christmas night. I'm not going to sit at a large table, listening to innuendos, while trying to choke down mushroom gravy.

I'll celebrate the life of Jesus by myself, with my dog, if I have to.

Bah hambug!

I've been completely ignoring Christmas for the last 5 or so years like any decent Scrooge should. :P

I love Christmas. The best thing about is is seeing my family and giving them gifts!

Generally, no.

Christmas was magical when I was a kid. My folks didn't have much, so Christmas and my birthday was the only time I got anything. Then I started having trouble in school and my punishment was not getting stuff on these holidays.

Later, my dad was facing loosing his job, and while the economic reality was something to consider, he was Mr. Dark Cloud every holiday season...making it depressing, not happy.

Add in how commercialized the holiday became (or at least, how more aware I became of it), and I started to hate it.

I hate and like Christmas. I like seeing all of the Christmas lights in the neighborhood. I don't like carols though and don't like it when radio stations constantly play Christmas music. But when Christmas is gone, I get sad again. My birthday is around Christmas time too. My parents and I do go out of state to visit dad's family and we do get together for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. My cousin on dad's side is very snooty and think she's all that because she's married and has kids. She's a few years older than me. It's just being in a crowd full of people and feeling like I don't fit in. No one on my family has aspergers or any type of issue with communication. Just me. So I feel sad and stupid. This is my family but still just the whole holiday get togethers is just not for me. I hate it especially at work when they do holiday parties. It's annoying and dumb. I work with 11 other people so it's not that big of a group.

I don't even go to any retail stores from Black Friday till end of the year. I hate crowds!! A simple card is good. Now I just buy gifts and cards for my parents and cards for anyone else. I don't have kids which I am so relieved! :P I don't have siblings either. I do work near this shopping area in DC where I can buy gifts for my parents. I also go to dog shows where I can buy gifts for my parents too. Last Christmas I did my shopping online. I avoided the mall crowds. My aunt (dad's side) actually said to us no more gift exchanges. She just buys gifts for her grand kids which is fine since they are under age 12. I never bought gifts for anyone on mom's side of the family and they never gave me gifts or cards for Christmas either. Mom's side is Korean. Dad's side of the family is very small.

Yes! My mum told me, that my brother in law's parents are going away for Christmas, so it's going to be just him, my sister, my niece, my parents and myself, at my parent's trailer for dinner! I'm looking forward to Christmas, now. :D

NO! For my family, Christmas season hay have well been called the "meltdown season". I had more meltdowns around the Christmas season than any other time of the year. I couldn't take the constant change in routine.

I hate shopping for family. I have no idea what they want except for the things that are out of reach (a new car!) I wind up buying something I hope that they like, but seems like a waste of money to me. Then you have to make sure your gifts don't fluctuate in price too much or you'll look like you favor one person over another.

On top of that, I hate irritable crowds, the weather, the falseness, the awkwardness of pretending to like what someone got you.

Love Christmas.....hate winter. For me, Christmas is a good way to break up this dark, dreary time of year. It used to be called the "Midwinter Festival"...I like to read books about the history of Christmas, and how the customs of today go back to pagan times, and old pagan customs. I don´t like the commercialism of modern Christmas, but I just ignore all that and celebrate it in my own way. :rendeer:
