my mother (a mental health nurse) thinks I should try to get the psychiatrist to perscribe me a low dose of quetiapine (Seroquel) to help with my anxiety and regulate my mood.

has anyone been on this?

what good or bad effects did you find?

I haven't tried it myself but most people I've talked to say it is extremely sedating. But I have been on other meds that made me tired and for me tired doesn't equal calm.

most people take it at levels in the hundreds where as for anxiety they would only be in tens which is supposed to make it less sedateing.

I was prescribed it because the antidepressant I was given (Wellbutrin/Bupropion) made it harder for me to sleep.

Indeed, it's really sedating. That can be a good or bad thing depending on the purpose. I took it before I went to bad and it instantly knocked me out. I couldn't imagine going through the whole day with that in my system.

The only problematic side effect that comes to mind, is weight gain. It affects your metabolism. It won't be that much of a problem if you keep at a good diet and exercising routine, but... still.

OK, how low is low? I know people who take 25-50 mg for sleep and it makes them sleep. Hopefully you're not so sensitive to the sedation.
