Stimming by Swinging

I like to stim by swinging on the swingsets . I also like to listen to my music as I do this . My mom worries that because teens have a bad rep in our neighborhood, that I shouldn't go alone. Hopefully my uncle will build me my own swingset.

For me, rocking back and forth gives the same sensation as swinging on a swing set when a swing set isn't around. They both involve the vestibular system.

I love the swings. I wish I had a private playground. Of course a merrygoround would be there too...

I hate social norms. Why can't I just play on the swings if I want to?

The weirdest thing is that it is perfectly OK to just relax on the swings as a teen or adult like you sit and talk with a friend while waiting or something and you swing a bit leisurely. But you can't really swing for swinging. Then it's bad bad.

I told my 4yo nephew that there are things an adult is not allowed to do unless a child is present, and he didn't believe me. We had just knocked on the windows of the Fire Dept. And then there's swinging. <heavy sigh>

What do you mean, an adult is not allowed to be on a swingset? I did not know this.

I used to swing all the time, even during the winter or rain, or whenever. I only do it when weather permits now, pacing achieves the same.

It's some unwritten rule, I guess. The general population thinks that adults swinging on a swing set is 'weird'.

I'm wondering how serious of a rule this is. Is it just considered an oddity like your clothes not matching or something really bad?

It's good exercise, too.

i mostly just shake my right leg up and down pretty much ever hour im sitting still.

My vestibular issues will not let me be comfortable on a swing except for very short swings. Can't lean back in a recliner, but rocking is good, and of couurse the jiggling knee.

Adults in swings - I believde one adult in swing with children present is suspicious, one adult in swing with no children present is ecccentric, two adults chatting while swinging with or without children present is probably OK at least for short periods.

Used to be teen or adult on a bicycle was taboo and odd.
