I used to spin around and around until I got dizzy, and I used to run around the couch in a circle. Since I live in a second-floor apartment, that drove our neighbors crazy - one time the lady downstairs actually told us to keep it down. Did you have any stimming behaviors as a child?

I would flick my toes until they bled and grit my teeth. I also rubbed my palsms and counted. My mom thought these were tics but they were stims. Trying to make me stop and harassing me about it only made me stim more.

There are huge differences between Self Injury, Fidgeting and Stimming.

Stimming is described as 'body movement' - not 'body part movement'. Even classic hand flapping involves some movement of the whole torso.

They were more like tics in my case.

When I was really little, around the age of two, I used to kick both feet at once up, after my mum would tuck me in, for the night. That only lasted, for a month. My mum got sick, of tucking me in, three times a night, and I got tired of sleeping, with cold feet.
