Does anyone consider NT's of their own age group as 'clones?

I am 14, and I think that all the girls of my age group act the same, they look the same, they like the same things, they all behave the same. It's getting to the point where I barely distinguish a girl of my age by their personality or looks alone. The usual description from me would sound a bit like... 'Uh, well, she has dyed hair which is straightened, she likes JLS and twilight, and she is obsessed with staying skinny and acting the way she thinks others want her to.'
I much prefer hanging out with NT or ASD boys, or ASD girls, as i find them much more interesting, as they want to talk about the same things as me, such as pokemon! :D Doesnt anyone find that?

I sort of do. For instance, I have a hard time relating to my peers, but for those even two years younger or two years older, I can get along with much better.

I saw that at your age. I still see it, and I'm 50 now! What really gets me is when you ask why a person dresses a certain style ( a style that many others use, and has already recieved a name because it's so popular), and they answer, "Because I like to be unique and different."

Whaaaa....???

No way. They're not anything near clones. They echo each other, sure, and they definitely try to conform--for them, it's a way of determining their own identity, finding out which groups they belong to--but they're really very diverse, in their own way. I know that maybe, to outsiders, NTs look like they're all the same; but you have to remember that while autistics tend to show their individuality rather openly, NTs will copy each other to identify with groups and to communicate. Copying each other is part of their nature; you can't be annoyed with them for that.

Exactly! Clones!

Sure I can!

But I don't hold it against them. There's no cure for NT's yet. :P

It's actually pretty normal for people who are on the outside of certain groups to see those groups as being homogenous characterless blobs made up of zombie drones. Not just people who exist outside the realm of "neurotypical", even NT's who are not involved with certain groups see those groups in exactly the same way, namely a bunch of people all acting the same.

It's just one of those weird little laws of physics in this world. In order for social groups to form, individuals who share common values must come together. Naturally, those who don't share the same values won't attribute any actual value to the things which those groups hold dear, so they'll remain outside of that group and keep a neutral or negative view of the connection which binds them, as that connection is worthless to the outside observer and not something they'd wish to pursue.

It's just like...

^... The way you get on well with people who share similar values with you, or are like you. People who aren't like you would typically view the connections you share with your peers to be uninteresting, undesirable and "clone"-like too.

It's a peculiar little law but it's apparently completely normal.

We're all clones in a sense, to some degree or another, and we view our own shared traits as positive things, while the traits which other groups share are viewed less positively. Since we're not personally involved with them, the binds which tie them together are more prone to look unsightly or unnecessary, since they don't have that pleasant sheen which we assign to our own ties.

Sorry if I'm rambling. This kind of stuff is an area which is dangerously close to my ret*d little "special interest" thing.

Nice post, Invader. :) Group dynamics and group psychology was something I did a fair bit of reading on last year and is still an interest of mine.

I relate more to older NTs. Less pressure to conform.

I realise they're all different people - but they dress alike and look alike and often times, unless I know them well I can't tell them apart.

In a word, yes. They all seem to behave, look and think alike to the point where they're all the same to me. Like many aspies apparently, I tend to get on with older people. Most of the people I take interest in are at least 10 years my seniors.

Yes, my peers seem to be clones, of one another. They're also a waste of my time. Time that I can spend, on my special interests, making myself happy, for once in my short life.

No, they're all very different from one another. They're just more bothered about being in tune with what's fashionable or whatever.

I think that's worst with teenagers. When I was a young teenager, I shopped at the same clothing stores as the girls in my class when possible, listented to the same music, watched the same TV shows, and read the same magazines, all in hopes of understanding the popular kids and fitting in. It didn't work, but I deserved an A for effort. :-) Now as an adult the consequences of being a little different from the people around me aren't so bad, so I no longer have the same motivation to pretend to have the same interests as the people I see daily, or to try to look just like them. People around here are normally civil even if we have very little in common, whereas fourteen year olds called me a loser if I didn't catch some joke from last week's episode of Saturday Night Live, or wore a school uniform skirt that was 2 inches below the knee instead of trying to get away with the shortest possible skirt or . . . well, basically any time I failed to obey the arbitrary rules dictated by the hive mind.

They must all be clones, because somewhere along the line, they took over the world!

*gets huge grin on her face* FINALLY!! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! ! Nobody that I know likes to talk about psychology, Pokemon, Rockman EXE (the American name for it is stupid), manga, drawing, writing, medical jargon unless they're in college, which is a long time from now!
Sometimes they feel like they're all the same....

My school was full of little clones. While some of them may have been separated by cliques, the girls all loved painting on black eyes and showing huge amounts of cleavage off daily during school. What's scary is that these trends are showing up in 3rd graders in my farm town I live in... they're brainwashing them younger and younger 8O

I'm glad I'm starting college tomorrow and this clique crap won't be so prevalent. :D
