This is my Youtube video about Asperger's, it now has more then 1/2 million hits (509,642 to be precise). It is a documentary about me and my experience of AS that was first shown on TV in 2005. I am happy that so many people have viewed my video an given it a good review.

Nice work!

I would only disagree with one aspect of the video, but I would attribute it to your Asperger's. You tended to speak of your Asperger's as if we are all like you. "People with Asperger's don't..." "People with Asperger's do...." Some of the things you mentioned are true for me, but some are not (emotions for example ~ I miss a lot of them, but I see and sometimes feel some). But it's not as if I'm giving you the "out" of using AS as an "excuse" for it. At one point you said, "When I first came to Trinity, I thought everyone was like me."

It sounds like, at least at the time of the filming, you thought the same way about the AS community. As if we were all like you.

I don't mean that as a criticism though. It's just an observation, and a really revealing one IMHO. I wouldn't expect any documentary featuring a single person with AS to be completely revealing anyway. I think one needs to see a lot of them before one begins to see the true overall commonalities we share. I think most of us make the mistake of speaking for all of us, when maybe what we should be doing is clarifying that we only speak for ourselves. I know I make that mistake all the time, but I hope I'm getting better about it.

Fantastic work! Thanks for sharing it. :D

I've watched that video, before. It's very well done, and it gets to the point. Good job! :D

I am glad Mrs. Doyle didn`t interupt the support group meeting with her tea-pot. :D

I enjoyed the programme and your photographs are good too. I would like to see some minerals included in your portfolio.

It's a really good video. Congrats on having so many people view it!

And nice to "meet" you, in a way ... I don't usually "see" the posters here.

Great video Dave,

It's the one asperger vid. to where I see a lot of myself. I stumbled across it last year and occasionally will replay it.

I bet 15 hits are mine. 8)

Hey, congrats.

I watched that a couple years ago and thought it was one of the better autism related videos out there.

Dave
It was your documentary that enabled me to first realise that Aspergers could apply to me. Until then I have been looking for answers, reading about 'social anxiety' and related topics. Many things I read would have a mention of Aspergers but I did not see myself like the people depicted. But when I saw you I realised it could be me.
Thankyou

That reminds me, there was one part of the video I didn't like.

I just rewatched it, it's around 6:10 where you're talking about the faults, and then the audio just...fades away...

It kind of bummed me out because I feel like that a lot. I'll be talking to someone for a while, and then eventually they'll go "I'm sorry, I wasn't listening." I just imagine myself fading out on them.

So sometimes I just don't feel like I can be bothered to say anything anymore.

I agree. It was almost like they were showing a bad behavior as an example. I hardly think talking about your special interest is bad behavior.

Then again, maybe I missed the point of that scene.

I know the feeling.
