Why do you assume that they aren't aware of their environment?

I'm not jealous. I'm able to hold down a job, and take care of myself. The things that I notice around my enviornment, will make for interesting drawings.

I'm jealous to every ignorant person on this planet because they don't feel bad for earning lots of money on expense of the others, they don't feel bad for playing with people's feelings, they don't feel bad for boasting with their materialistic possession, they don't feel bad for constantly consuming and so forth.

I only feel that I do not want to have anything to do with the current system and only really hope things would be drastically different. makes my life pretty shallow as both are quite unrealistic goals.

Aspies are autistic. The question makes no sense.

Well, outside of splitting hairs on the labels, I think the OP means the autistics who seem to be oblivious to their surroundings.

I'm actually not convinced they are.

And, if they are, I think it may have been a self-defensive reaction to a world that was just, "too much." Similar to the way allergies are developed. Just happening at so young an age that they do not recall it.

Yes, and the term would be "envy", not "jealousy". Jealousy relates to something already one's own, and envy is wanting something belonging to someone else.

I totally agree with this statement. I would absolutely NOT want to have to rely solely on others to care for me. EVER.

In a way, yes, because they rarely get pushed to act like NTs. But I would really hate to not be able to keep a job or even work at McDonalds. I would kill to be able to support myself as an adult.

If you're talking about severe Autism, I can kind of understand you're not wanting to be so aware, but that requires presuming severe Autistics aren't aware. Consider that they have a much stronger tendency to act up in ways that can be dangerous to themselves and others, in reaction to things they can't seem to control. A lot of them can't speak up for themselves to it is presumed that's a big part of the reason they act up as they do. That acting up, to me, indicates they are far more aware than we might think.

Maybe they are as aware as we are of things about this world they don't like, but can't do as much about it.

I certainly wouldn't envy that. At least I can articulate what I don't like. It might not make a lot of sense to people who don't understand Autism, but it's a heck of a lot better than trying to get your point across with no voice, or little ability to express yourself.

Oh. I never thought of my life as "shallow" in this way, but I have realized that wanting everything to be different doesn't really make a difference!

I think it's a fallacy that autistic people (not with AS) are unaware of their environment.

I'm sometimes envious of more severely autistic people.

Having to work and live indepently as an Aspie adult, with no support, is exhausting - not to mention meeting bullies along the way. My life is miserable most of the time. I sometimes think that if I was more severely autistic, I would be looked after, wouldn't have to work, and would lead a relaxed life where I could pursue my interests.

But then, I remember that there are advantages to living independently too. True, the situation is hard, but I have the power to seek a better life. I'm not trapped in an institution.
